Its not a patch but an upgrade so dont feel like you should be entitled.

Yeah, righto. "Upgrade" in name and name alone mate, 'cos the "features" of the "Upgrade" sure do look a lot like Patch Notes to me.

I was going to buy the original game not sure i want to pick it up or it's re-release now especially now that i've seen the Developer has dropped support of the original game for a cheap cash grab of a re-release/patch...

I really don't mind this as long as owners of the original recieve a discount.

Not fair. Happy with a new game of course, but decommissioning the previous one is anything but fair.

Owners of the original deserve this one for free. Others have done it right: No Time to Explain, Level 22,......

Hi there,
there are some things we would like you to know.

First: Yes, there will be a substantial discount for owners of the original Pressure game.
It is planned that folks who already own Pressure will receive a coupon in their steam inventory upon the release of Pressure Overdrive.

Second: I wouldn't say we decomissioned the old Pressure game. Although it is pulled from the store, people who bought the original game will still have access to it. There are several good reasons for this and we'd like to explain to you why we made these decisions.

The original Pressure was released in 2013 and published by Topware Interactive.
I don't want to go into unpleasant details, but the short story is that we cut all business ties with Topware and there has been a lawsuit in which we were able to reclaim the distribution rights for Pressure.

However, we couldn't just re-release the game as it was. We also had to switch to another technological base. The engine and tool suite we used until then has been discontinued which made maintainance impossible let alone releasing on different platforms (namely XBox and Playstation). This is also the main reason why we were unable to maintain Cosmonautica: Problems inside of third party software, the support of which has been ceased by its developer, prevented us from meeting the quality standards you expected from us.
So, we moved to Unity, basically rewrote the whole game and took the opportunity to redesign the game from a gameplay standpoint based on feedback from our players.

Of course we were afraid of a scenario in which people would see Pressure Overdrive as "another patch they have to pay for". And it's hard to market something that is neither an upgrade nor a sequel to an existing title. Putting a two at the end of the title and communicating it as a new game would have been dishonest. Releasing it as a free massive update (basically replacing the old product) would have been financial suicide. We considerd it but it turned out to be utterly unfeasable. After all, the whole team worked for over two years on it.

I hope I could clarify some things regarding the upcoming release of Pressure Overdrive. We want to treat you, our customers, fairly. We want to ship the best product we can make and learn from our mistakes for future game releases. If you believe our approach to this release is unfair in one way or another, please don't buy this game. We'd rather have you being happy without our game than unhappy with it.
But if you enjoyed the original Pressure you will certainly love this one.
