Hello, my name is Ian and I’m giving the opening keynote on Data Science Deployed at PyConSE this May. I’ll be talking about the challenges in developing and deploying valuable data science solutions based on 15 years hard-won experience.

In the UK I run a boutique data science agency called ModelInsight and I co-run the PyDataLondon meetup and conference series. I run these events to help bind the data science community in London together. As a result teams with the right skills can come together to help companies and groups turn their data into valuable results.

My goal in this keynote is to show you how you can get started on this journey. I encourage you to ask me questions! I’m particularly intrigued to learn about the sort of data that Swedish companies have and how they currently exploit it.

The schedule for the upcoming PyCon Sweden in Stockholm has been published on the homepage at pycon.se. There are less than twenty tickets left, and we’re closing registration on Monday the 27th, so this is your last chance to be part of the conference!

PyCon Sweden is less than a month away, and things are looking good! We’ve got a really good program, brilliant keynotes, and ticket sales are looking good.

At this we’d like to take the opportunity to communicate some practical things regarding the conference - first, we’ve set a end date for ticket sales at the 27th of April, so you have just under a week to grab a ticket now. Personal and student tickets are already almost sold out, so if that’s what you’re looking for you probably should grab it now (or support the conference with a business ticket!).

Going forward, this blog will be our main means of communicating anything that does not fit in a tweet, so if you’re going you might want to watch this space for any updates.

As you know, the venue this year will be Hilton Stocholm Slussen which is in a prime location on the waterfront in central Stockholm. If you’re flying in to Arlanda airport, you can take the bus (cheaper) or train (faster) to Stockholm Central Station and then the red or green subway line to ‘Slussen’ - the hotel is just a two-minute walk from the Slussen subway station, use the exit towards 'Södermalmstorg’.
