Version 53 of Chrome is scheduled to be released (in its stable branch) in September, and some preliminary analysis with Motion Mark (previously known as Animometer) show that on the Pixel C with Android 6.0, the new update increased is Animometer score by 209%, its HTML suite score by 589%, its SVG suite score by 1080% and its 3D graphics score by 128%.
Off the heels of the successful Honor 5X, Huawei has just officially announced the successor to the Honor 4A, the 5A. The device has a 5.5" 720p display, Snapdragon 617 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, microSD card slot, 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras, 3,100mAh capacity battery with Android 6.0 running the show. Currently the device is priced at ~$105 and available on China’s Vmall website.
A Reddit user says they were able to get some screenshots of Moto Mod prices on the Verizon Wireless website. If true (these could be placeholder prices), then Verizon will be selling the 480p projector Moto Mod for $300, the regular power pack for $90, the wireless power pack for $100 and the Kate Spade shell for $80.
Toward the start of this month, a rumor from Evan Blass suggested the upcoming "Galaxy Note 6/7 launch event is almost exactly two months away." Now, a newly leaked photo backs up that claim and says the launch event will take place on August 2nd. The promotional image also says the "next edge is just around the corner," so we could see another Note Edge variant.
Snapchat has launched its "Partners" Advertising API, with the intention of dramatically expanding advertising on the platform in the long run. For now, skippable ads will start appearing as transitions between friends stories. The ads will be fully-featured, allowing for additional actions like redirecting to websites within Snapchat or to longer videos upon a swipe on the ad.
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 3s in China for a price of 699 CNY ($106) for the 2GB+16GB variant and 899 CNY ($136) for the 3GB+32GB variant. The phone sports a 5" HD display, Snapdragon 430 SoC, 13MP rear camera, rear fingerprint sensor and a beefy 4100 mAh battery. The phone goes on sale in China from June 16th, although global availability is unknown at this stage.
