Rediscovering the Self – My Open Journal from Times of Tough

Image

I’m a sucker for people…

I love spending time with those close to my heart.

Then I value time with the self. I’m beginning to find myself.

This has been a blessing so far. I realize I would’ve been far down a roller coaster, had it not been for this wonderful interruption.

I want you to read this short journal entry, take a good piece out of it and implement it in your life. Come back to me later and let me know what you did.

Hands-On Machine Learning with scikit-learn and Python (Intermediate)

I use to write a lot back in the day, not only my books but also a lot of blog posts. I stopped doing this with a high frequency because my main focus became upping my skill in cybersecurity as well as creating video content.

However, the urge is still there. And it’s gonna blow!! I don’t know when but I know that there’s still a lot to come out of my mind through my hands in the form of written words.

I’m writing this short post to announce that my course on practical machine learning with scikit-learn and Python is up. It’s an intermediate level course and the topics covered include:

  • KNN
  • Decision Trees
  • Random Forests
  • Support Vector Machines
  • Neural Networks
  • Preprocessing
  • and more.

Here’s a sneak preview video:

And the official link: here.

Thoughts from my 7 Day Water Fast – And my Frenzy Refeed

Image

Having written a water fasting book myself a couple of years ago, I thought of getting back into the practice of doing prolonged water fasting at the beginning of this year.

As of writing my book back then, I only completed a 4–5 day water fast and often regular 24-hour fasts — which are easy. But this year I began doing 36–48 hour fasts almost every week and I also completed a 96 hour fast earlier in April 2019.

So, I was and I am pretty accustomed to not eating. Which is why I thought of trying a 5 day fast with the possibility of extending it to 7 days. The main reason was for rejuvenation and also to test my body’s capabilities.

And to be honest, this is not some great feat or major achievement, because many people do it every day. Many people fast for 10, 20 and even 40 days regularly. Just go to any water fasting community on social media platforms and you’ll see it for yourself.

My First Cybersecurity Course is Live on Cybrary

Image

I remember that a few years ago I was looking for a platform where I could learn cybersecurity and penetration testing. There wasn’t much going on in the web space back then.

But there was this site, Cybrary, that recently (at that point in time) came up. They had a few courses and you would get a certificate of completion once you finished a course. The best of it was that they were all free.

A Dietary Retrospective of 2018

Image

By the mid of December 2017, I decided to buy a glucose-ketone blood testing device.

For a lot of months preceding that, I was following a non-ketogenic diet that was high in plants and low in animal foods. I wasn’t feeling that good and I wanted to get back into ketosis, as it’s been serving me well in the past. I don’t know why I loosen the control on ketosis in the first place, as it was providing me with so many benefits, including high-energy, lack of hunger, better mental output, just to name a few.  Continue reading “A Dietary Retrospective of 2018”

My Machine Learning Android App – Getting into Mobile Development

Image

Those of you very close to me know that my first three or four attempts at learning to code were epic failures. I tried learning Java, with the sole purpose of getting into mobile app development. This was circa 2009. And over the course of a couple of years, until late 2014, early 2015 I didn’t move the needle an inch forward…

And then I gave my best shot at coding by learning Python. I said to myself, that no matter what happens, I’m going to try so many times until something catches onto me. And it did…eventually. I share some more aspects of that experience over here.

Long story short, I not only got into Python, but other programming languages, concepts, and frameworks. And then came the time to get back into mobile development.  Continue reading “My Machine Learning Android App – Getting into Mobile Development”

NYC Vlogs – Carnivore Diet, Visiting Google HQ, Getting a DEXA Scan, and More

I hate that I didn’t do this everytime I stayed in the big apple. Ah well…

So, it was just a few days before my trip to NYC this October that I decided to vlog as much as I can. If nothing else, this would serve as a guide for future adventures.

Looking back, I manage to do quite a few things, meet amazing people, make new friends and some more intense stuff not caught on tape. Continue reading “NYC Vlogs – Carnivore Diet, Visiting Google HQ, Getting a DEXA Scan, and More”

Into Deep Ketosis in 30 Minutes – My First Experiment with the Ketone Ester [KetoneAid]

I was given a sample of the ketone ester KE4 (KetoneAid) and I wanted to see how it impacts my crossfit-like type of training. These first results are very promising and I’m looking forward to doing more experiments with this stuff, not only for sports performance, but also for cognitive performance. This is a two-part video (for part 1 look here).
