<!DOCTYPE html>In 2016, Ohio-based Diebold acquired Wincor Nixdorf, a retail banking hardware, software, and services provider based in Germany. The merger resulted in two core HR systems&mdash;Oracle E-Business Suite and SAP. The company lacked efficient, effective access to data, which led to increased complexity and compliance risk, as well as manual, time-intensive, and inconsistent processes.

The merged company, Diebold Nixdorf, sought to cut costs and streamline HR. At the same time, the business saw an opportunity to transform HR with a move to the cloud.

The finance and IT teams at MGM Resorts International support more than 15 properties in Las Vegas and across the US&mdash;including iconic destinations such as the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay&mdash;so well that customers never notice what they do. Behind the scenes, the teams manage financial systems that process wire transfers, credit card data, vendor orders, and more, all for a business that&rsquo;s really multiple industries such as food and beverage, hotels, and entertainment.
But back in 2018, the company&rsquo;s patchwork of systems, some of them nearly 40 years old, meant that such magic was getting harder and harder to pull off. &ldquo;Much of the time, we had to manually log into systems to find the financial data we needed,&rdquo; says Emmy Kravetz, executive director of ERP. &ldquo;It was inefficient and sometimes resulted in discrepancies. We needed more advanced features that let us better support the business.&rdquo; That wasn&rsquo;t going to happen with MGM Resorts&rsquo; legacy on-premises systems, which couldn&rsquo;t connect to new applications and take advantage of automation.

<!DOCTYPE html> In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, AMC Theatres&mdash;the largest movie theater chain in the world&mdash;went from generating more than $4 billion in revenue a year to less than $200 million in 2020. Additionally, supply chain pressures forced AMC to change popcorn suppliers and eliminate other items from the menu for months. The theater chain was already planning to replace an existing Oracle E-Business Suite system with a cloud solution, but the pandemic accelerated the timetable.
Economic pressures and the many distractions of COVID led management&nbsp; to start a journey to the cloud with a small, manageable, and high-impact project. With no real procurement system in place and a heavy reliance on third-party suppliers, AMC sought a fast, reliable way to solve its supply chain issues without implementing a complete ERP cloud solution. At a time when managing supplier relations was critical, the need to centralize procurement functions was paramount.

<!DOCTYPE html> Imagine being a healthcare worker and not having access to information that could help save the life of your patient. Whereas most healthcare workers take real-time access to critical information systems for granted, the staff of Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) delivers primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency services to the underserved population in Australia&rsquo;s remote regions where reliable internet connectivity is often not available. As one of the largest aeromedical organizations in the world, RFDS logs over 380,000 patient interactions per year, operates 80 aircraft, and maintains more than 300 road-based ambulances known as retrieval vehicles.&nbsp;
Historically, RFDS&rsquo;s staff recorded patient interactions on paper forms, with up to 600 fields per interaction. Information on those forms was manually entered into either standalone applications or shared via CSV files among 100-plus databases across seven operating entities. During interactions in remote areas with little or no internet connectivity, staff often could not access the RFDS knowledgebase of patient data. These disparate systems and connectivity issues challenged the organization&rsquo;s ability to deliver the highest-quality services to its patients. And, as a nonprofit organization, the requisite web of service agreements and support services resulted in unacceptably high support costs.
Accordingly, RFDS evaluated enterprise-grade cloud solutions with the goal of establishing a countrywide patient record system that could facilitate the sharing of consistent, reliable, and accurate information in real time across operations. Ultimately, this new framework would help employees to analyze health and services patterns to improve patient outcomes.

As the firm experienced rapid growth in recent years, the gaps became even more pronounced.
The legacy systems did little to support the company culture or employee experience, causing administrative delays that were taking time away from servicing clients and other stakeholders. Leadership also found it increasingly difficult to make informed decisions without timely insights and visibility into performance across HR and beyond.

The DICE team wanted bold steps to make breakthrough efficiency gains in its back-office operations&mdash;and that meant bringing in the most innovative technologies and tactics. This transformation required a large-scale move to cloud applications.

But Verstappen and the team didn&rsquo;t settle for just moving up a few places. They meticulously calculated an aggressive race strategy, and on a track that&rsquo;s notoriously tough for overtakes, Verstappen won by nearly eight seconds and matched the team&rsquo;s best-ever recovery win.

The Hungary race epitomized the combination of tech-powered strategy, teamwork, and superb driving by Verstappen and driver Sergio P&eacute;rez that was a hallmark of the Oracle Red Bull Racing 2022 season. It helped the team earn the Constructors&rsquo; World Championship, the sport&rsquo;s top team prize, as well as defending Verstappen&rsquo;s Driver&rsquo;s World Championship. The team has a close technology partnership with Oracle, including running billions of Monte Carlo simulations using <a href="https://www.oracle.com/ae/cloud/">Oracle Cloud Infrastructure</a> (OCI) to explore the different scenarios and outcome probabilities before and during every Grand Prix.
&ldquo;Due to all the simulations before the race even starts, it's very easy to adapt a different strategy during the race because everything is there, everything is prepared,&rdquo; Verstappen says. &ldquo;I think we definitely had a strategy edge over other teams.&rdquo;
Earning both of the top F1 trophies is no small feat, and it illustrates the team&rsquo;s innovation and its embrace of data and technology to drive results. In addition to simulations for on-the-track action, Oracle technology supports Oracle Red Bull Racing&rsquo;s launch of The Paddock fan engagement platform and the early stages of Red Bull Powertrain&rsquo;s development of a new race engine, due to debut in 2026.
&ldquo;It's been an incredible season, so many highs, so many amazing performances,&rdquo; says Christian Horner, team principal and CEO for Oracle Red Bull Racing. &ldquo;As a team, we&rsquo;ve really delivered on and off the track this season, and that relies very heavily on the technology partners that play a key role in this championship success.&rdquo;
