Hello my friends. I want to thank all of you for the support you provided me during one of the most difficult times we all must someday face. The last few weeks have been a turbulent time for me, filled with tears and a few laughs along the way. Through it all I received so many emails with kind words and quite a few virtual hugs. I am so grateful to have met all of you through Houzz. Thank you, Margaret.

Good Lord! Never in my life have I seen such ridiculous invective over a simple, polite request for ideas designing a difficult space! As noted by rational people, designers asking each other for help is commonplace, just as all true professionals run ideas or problems by fellow professionals to get their insight on the situation. It's called collegiality. Any professional who believes himself to be above seeking advice from other professionals is an egomaniac and should be avoided like the plague.
I don't think Andraena and Collette are members of a police force. They are members of the SS wearing very large and very unattractive Gestapo boots.
And Andraena, bringing up your legal credentials on a design forum in a pathetic attempt to somehow imbue your bile with credibility is just mind-boggling. Furthermore, as a former prosecutor in the Department of Justice, I can tell you that throwing out terms like plagiarism in this context is beyond absurd and brings to mind another legal term: slander.

We would definitely leave the stone wall! It has a natural beauty that is timeless. Perhaps change the fire place doors/insert and build a new hearth to add some personal touch.
We dislike the idea of painting a natural surface.... Many problems down the road with that.

Also, you can clean your stone wall with a good stone cleaner and it will bring out colors and textured that you do not see today.

Peg, love, please celebrate this day. Super treat for supper? Champagne? Dash out and buy a new nightie?
I'm in a bit of a pointless state of fury. This being Africa, some idiot was transporting two giraffes in whatever vehicle and went under a bridge and the one giraffe hit its head and has died. Can you imagine how angry I feel? That exquisite, gentle giant? You would think at least that people in this industry would understand about giraffes and bridges, for pete's sake! And it is an industry. Tourism, of course, which is fine if it's run by people with brains and conscience. And then there are all those folks who pay fortunes to come and kill giraffes, buffaloes, rhinos, elephant, lions, leopards, cheetahs, kudu, springbok, baboons, if it walks let's kill it. To prove how good we are at pointing a barrel.
Okay. That's a bit political, I guess. I might be reported. Don't care.

We have gale force winds today. Nearly blown off bike morning and afternoon. Lots of damage, not to us, thank goodness.

chook, glad you are okay.
spencer, you warned us that there are always last minute things. Confess, I had no idea how many. Hope you and hookie are all settled into your rental and you two can catch your breath.
That must be one heck of a convoy! I hated the traffic on our last trip to LA. Don't get a lot of that in Kansas. LOL.
BIG day tomorrow!!! Oh boy.

Stefanie, your drapery lady has installers, I'm sure. You may feel funny asking her since you ordered from HPD.

Lovely room. Love the art work. May I suggest an Ikat print in shades of grey and cream?

Wow, thank you everyone for your comments. This peice was giving to me from a family member. It is in excellent shape. After looking in drawers etc. adivra you were right. First it is 2 peices and so heavy it took 4 men to put in my house, it is made by hickory chair. I decided to not paint. I don't know much about antiques etc, but does look like this peice is one. Thank you so much , I almost painted something that someone else would appreciate so much! Thanks again

Luxuries to me are something very different. I built small house 3 years ago and for the first time since my accident 30 years ago, I can get in and out of bed alone, use my kitchen independently. In order to build on a very small budget, many people donated money. Now, I had to forgo luxuries like fancy cabinets and walk in closets to live my dream of independence but even with builder grade oak cabinets and inexpensive tile, I have more luxuries than ever before including not havine people get me up and put me to bed. I also can use every inch of those builder grade cabinets myself including a side swing oven, roll under sink and cook top, and touch faucets! Believe me, despite its simple design, I have the luxuries most wheelchair users dream of! And I live very happily with them! I love my house!

I should have known better than to look at the discussion page so close to bedtime. I've started on your space because I absolutely think the zebra rug can work. So far, all I've managed to do is move the chairs, and remove the valances and the wreath, but the pillows will go next.
You actually might need to rearrange the furniture--shame on hubby for putting the TV over the fireplace--and I'm not sure why your sectional is hanging off the end of the wall. If it's to accommodate baby furniture, let's find another way to do it.
For now, I've kept your green table and white lamp, moved the chairs up to meet the corner of the sectional, and simplified a bit. I will return tomorrow to finish. In the meantime, let's all get some sleep. ;-)
