Today we got rid of 2garbage bags of clothes etc and 2 pieces of pine furniture to the opportunity shop. Also dropped off an antique piece to our friendly dealer. Child sorted out toys to go into storage in the shed. This challenge is good.

I think the trade off for a mirrored strip would be great (however, I would add the mirror starting 1/10th down so that the top part could remain smudge free....

Hi!
We like the look of both stripes and polka dots, especially for a kids bedroom. You can check out our blog on stripes and polka dots showing the different variations we have.

I prefer the one on the left, because, like the other person said, slightly covering the windows is a no-no. However it would be better if you choose a different cadenza where the TV is. It's a bit bulky.

I like the one on the right. The first one looks crowded at foot of bed and dresser. Also, it is a good idea to face the main door, should someone walk into the room - feng shui principle .

you need to paint the ceiling a darker color to bring it down..its tall enough...get a colorful rug that is the correct size for the table.. you should allow only one foot to two feet of space beyond chairs...you have too much room..as for the color....go with a grey--blue benjamin moore and paint the island chairs the same color as walls you have a lot of great space and can use a color to accent the brown you have go deep girlfriend! get window treatment on this windows and doors..

Thank you so much for sending that link but I need them in white. I would also take the higher white bar stools in the white finish if I could find them. I really can't find a similar look in counter stools anywhere.

There are these 2 that are 3 times cheaper. We can see they are not totally the same ... they have bolts on the side and the wood is not the same. They don't include the 2 chairs as the one above does:

I like that you swing bathroom's the door outward. It helps with the space. How wide is your bathroom? Are you ok to use steal some space from the bedroom?

We recently set a bed back into the closet of a home, and combined the headboard with storage while still maintaining a walk in closet area. I think if you did something similar, you could extend the bathroom while still having space in the bedroom. You could also remove the walls between the bedroom, shower and sink, add a stand alone shower and add the necessary changes to close off the toilet.
Sounds like a fun project. Good luck

Change the bathroom door to a pocket door and that will give you the space that the door takes up. You could take away some of the master bedroom space for another vanity adjacent to the wall of the other bath, got that would make the master bedroom an awkward shape and difficult for placing furniture.

I like RE3Designs floor plan. I just made a little change so you can have a small storage close by the second bathroom and I changed the entrance of the closet. This way, you can have 2 parallel rows of hanging space instead of an L-shape. It is a lot more efficient.

Not sure if I have the square footage for two sides for hanging. whats typically the minimum required 1 foot deep?

Curved sides of chest sort of repeat in round mirror. Front reminds me of library, tall books, traditional. Is chest at ALL rustic, but it seems to have sheen? and the shapes on stairs interesting also...which this somehow might work: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-33-5-in-x-33-5-in-Round-Decorative-Flower-Framed-Mirror-2299525/204297863?N=5yc1vZbve6Z1z0zmugZ1z0znq7Z1z11yps

4js2ma....I will admit, that does look nice. BUT...in the original photo, where the soot has come up onto the wall. That is still going to happen, only now it will show even more because the brick is white.
The light whitewash....that will become heavier as you have to keep covering the soot.
I'm just saying that the soot issue isn't going to go away because you painted.

It wasn't just the soot that was ugly about this wall. Some of the bricks were actually black. I just couldn't handle it. Also on the opposite side of this wall is/was just as much ugly brick. I really needed to lighten this place up. I hand sanded each brick to get the final effect and we are pretty happy with it. I am also pretty certain that the previous owners NEVER took a second thought about how this monstrosity influenced the room they were in. Soot?? Eh.... There is always sand paper :). Didn't want a Brady Bunch house anymore! :) thanks for your comment! I love input!

I don't know what size is best but if you make your makeup vanity lower than your vanity, make sure you have enough room on your makeup vanity to move your elbows easily. You would not want to hit your elbow on the edge of the (big) vanity when applying mascara.

When we doing a make up setup in the bathroom we always do it 30" high and as the width goes the wider the better, but we to make it at least 30" wide, which is the most requested width size, I guess for the same reasons which Suzanne pointed out.
Good luck

I am using Visio from Microsoft. I noticed that you have some different measurements in the 3 layouts you showed us. Maybe some show us the measurements including the thickness of the walls? Is it possible to give us the actual inside measurements of the closet and the bedroom?

These are 2 layouts ...very similar except that if you don't find that you have enough closet in the first layout, you can have a second smaller closet.

I had drawn this one in advance again similar to the ones above but you don't have the wasted space which is now gained in the bedroom. I was just waiting for you to tell us how big you wanted the linen closet. Good question ppf.

ppf.
This is outside the closet, or as I see it, built in to the corner of the closet. You might see the back of it from within the closet. I was trying to make it as deep as possible without intruding on the hall.
I added the bump out over the stairs to make it look more built in.
So the closet remains the same size.
The cabinet is 26" wide and 16" deep.
Better image of how new cabinet fits.

Sorry, my idea comes in my mind just a little part at a time: I would make sure that the towel is in one of the colors found in the painting, it would look more like the 2 (towel and painting) belong to each other.

suzanne_m
makaloco has a good point. If the toilet is centered to the wall, I would move the bar above the switch and center it with the wall like. Patching a hole made by a towel bar is not that hard and it will be worth it.
If the toilet is centered with the bar, I would do like ppf said, try the painting above the bar first and move it if it looks odd.

Well, I think the towel bar is where it needs to be for practical purposes then. You want to be able to grab a towel when you step out of the shower, right? I'm all about function over aesthetics. No one wants to live in a museum. The design has to work and be practical. I like what groveraxle suggested, but I think you could also do a large rectangle over the towel bar and two smaller stacked pieces to the right.

Who cleans the range hood and behind the cabinets?
I can't keep mirrors clean for more then a day or so, let alone cooking with oil under them. I was going to say I see a soy sauce run happening down the back of the cabinet in full view of the windows and no way to clean it off and mould building up till it grows legs and takes over the suburb, but on closer inspection I think all the glass slides away making for an island bench. (not keen on the mirror, but the island bench is pretty slick)

A stove that I could love. Everyone I know with the Wolf's, Dacor, Viking, Berttazoni, etc... say they love them, but then admit to the various problems such as excessive exterior heat, bad customer service, rusting parts, poor burner control, etc... Why don't they perform like they used to. O'keefe & Merritt comes to mind. They are still in demand.

Painting over stone in a wet environment is doomed to give you problems.

suzanne_m
Can you try to clean it with peroxyde? Try in a small hidden spot first. Also there is a product I like very much. It is acid free. It is called Universal Stone. I like it very much, I use it on many different things. This is the link:
http://www.universalstone.ca/
I find it is worth the money. Even if it does not work for your shower, I am sure you can find many other uses. Again try it on a hidden spot first.

You might be able to find an old outdoor bench that you could distress/milk paint white.
