United States - About me:
- Single female. Bought my 1916 bungalow in May of 07. It has been a slow methodical restoration process ever since.
I have also learned that you cannot even disagree with the community manager here....she will remove your comment. - My favorite style:
- Older architectural styles...late 1800's up to about 1930.
- My next house project:
- Living room. Need to scrape paint, patch some plaster & get some rich color on those walls!

I like the boxes, but I wouldn't want to dust them! Selected dresser.

I think that the type of plants and the drapes makes it look a little sloppy, other wise very elegant.

I kind of like the bedding...looks like the shabby chic stuff. Totally cute for your room.
I also agree about too many things clustered together. I'd clear all but one thing (not including lamp) from your table on the left.

Some folks tastes are simply eclectic. There may not be a style "name" for what you like, which is fine.
I usually go with my gut on certain things. I do know that I like antiques, but they don't necessarily have to be brand names from that period. I likely couldn't afford them anyway!

Got a photo of an area where it's been installed? What's on your floor now?

I also say keep it! Mine (1916) is filled with bubbles & some Calgon right now! Been a busy day here scraping 98 years of paint off my concrete steps. It's one heavy duty hot bath!
Yeah...it's a keeper! :0)
To add one more thing to Bath Express comment...when I restored my bath & ripped up the old floor, I had my plumber run piping IN the floor where it fed in from another room. Then hooked to bathroom radiator. Now I have a great floor that warms up in the winter too! Once the boiler is on...I have toasty feets!
I'm off to soak!

The fake fire look--is that what you're after? I have no clue what you're asking, just that the fire is the stuff they use on TV that doesn't have smoke, and as the wife of a career firefighter, I can tell you that a real fireplace produces smoke. If you want a better answer, please clarify your question.

The wood floor looks so much better.
Years ago on "ask this old house", some one had a problem with creaky floors. What they did was find the creaky spot, they used a wood nail to reattach the boards to the subfloor, then they cut the screw at floor level. It stopped the creaky floors.
Check on line with "This'd Old House" see if they have a post.
Good luck, you house is looking great.

Awesome thank you Bungalowmo! We have some radiant heaters that came from an old hotel just south of us in Boulder Colorado that we are going to use! We are torn between keeping the antique white that is on them and kind of fading away or powder coating them with a new color... The house is going to be such a mix of modern lines with rustic/industrial feel. I'll get some pictures of those up here soon and let me know what you think!

"Code talking" was pioneered by the Cherokee and Chocktaw in WWI and continued during WWII (although it looks like the Navajo were more involved at that point). I can see why!

You can dye it! I used this stuff successfully. I bought their grout dye and the sealer. I reseal it about every 8 mos because I used it in my shower. Scrubbing & such will wear the sealer down eventually.

How long has it been complete? Sometimes you just need to live with something for a week or so, before the change becomes comfortable. The images of the backsplash with your counters and cabinets is lovely - if your grout hasn't been sealed, that may darken it too - what happens if you dampen the grout?

I don't have kids. But I do have a Zen sandbox. This was an old medical cart on wheels. Converted it into a sand box. Sits on my patio. Has a glass cover and can be used as a side table. Anytime I need to chill, I just pick up my piece of stag horn coral rake/pencil, and drift back to the time I lived in the Caribbean.

Not yet. We're about to move into our house and have already discussed one. Glad I read this though because I forgot about the critters.

I'm determined to get this room done before the holidays. Originally set up to be a combo dining/living room ( if you can believe it ) I've decided to pass on the dining room as it wouldn't get much use. I would love this to be an elegant room with several seating areas. Help me Houzzers please! Willing to paint walls not trim s/o loves it too much.

Single - I find a double door looks too pretentious for my taste. I would rather have a single interesting door than a double. However, I need to add that my single door is 39" wide and has leaded sidelights on each side so it isn't an average door...

Yes...in a heartbeat. But after 7 years, I'd know what to address ahead of time...not after damage had occurred from disintegrating flashing!

After being away for almost 20 years, I finally moved to a small city within an hour from my parents - in a nutshell, I moved home. Absolutely love the neighborhood, and the old 1922 bungalow is exactly what I've always dreamed of. Still fixing it up and making small renovations but I would 100% pick it again!!

I like the rambler style but the layout is all wrong and the rooms are too small. I love the bamboo flooring that replaced the wall-to-wall carpeting We love the covered deck we have added and the new landscaping we are ALWAYS working on. I have always wanted to design my own house but I think that time in life has passed. I guess I will just keep puttering away on what we have.

I have used virtually every color noted above. I had an adorable little house that was bright white with peach trim. My last house, I painted the second kitchen a high gloss candy apple red with white cabinets! Loved it and so did everyone else. My current home has mustard, pink, yellow, blue, ginger and white. Part of this is my daughter's spaces and she chose all the colors according to her taste. BUT IT IS JUST PAINT! Paint it to what you love today! Paint over it next year, or the year after, or Never.
