Love the light. And those little hats above the dog's bed!

I love this apartment! What a calm, comfortable space! When I saw the photo of the kitchen, I thought to myself, "Is this the BEFORE picture?" I'm so glad it wasn't! Anybody with a ton of money can hire contractors or designers to make a state-of-the-art kitchen. It takes cleverness and a good eye to make the most of what you already have.

Love it! I agree with a previous commenter -- I wouldn't think African and MCM in the same thought, but it works beautifully. The colorful marionettes and masks and baskets are wonderful. I just love to see homes where people surround themselves with the things they love and don't worry about if it's "too much". I'm so glad they were able to rescue so many of their treasures after Katrina! It takes strength and determination to roll up your sleeves and just get on with the process of restoring and rebuilding after disaster strikes. Good for them!

Mitchell... Enjoy reading your pieces that feature one type of space from several homes. Wishing for one element that ties them together better (besides being bright)... All kid rooms, converted sunrooms, guest rooms, arrangement or use of one element? Really like the format of the bolded titles that pique my interest and keep me reading! The large scale airplane in white lines to mimic a draft is a unique wow feature on the ceiling! Wondering what the splurge items in that room costs, considering the "save cost" items were not exactly cheap. It is all relative, I suppose. Love that the boy got to be part of the design process! Nice to see a contrasting second kid room that was bright and fun but not theme oriented.
