Thank you Nancy for sharing with me abut your loss.  I also loss my father from cancer in June last year, my mother passed away in September, she had advanced Alzheimers and then my partner in November from cancer.  We had four months from diagnosis and spoke often about my going on alone.  I just have never felt so terrible and alone.  I will try to take it a minute at a time.

Nancy so sorry for your loss, my partner and I were together 36 years and I recently retired so we had "retirement plans" that now will only be thoughts. It is very difficult to spend a great part of your life with one person and think that when the day comes that you both can enjoy all your time together, it didn't happen. I think about her every day and miss what we had.

Thanks, Nancy. Your response to my post helped me to try and cope with my new "normal/reality." It's going to be a long and painful recovery but, knowing that there are people like you out there who understand what I'm going through, means a great lot.

Hi Nancy I'm sorry for your loss. First, I'm a black male, just turned 60 in May, and lost my partner of 24 years, Saturday, June 30, 2012. He was German. I'm still in a state of shock!! I break-down every now and then in uncontrollable tears. It hurt likes hell! Just wanted you to know that there are good people in the world that really care about other people who are going through similar events. Respond if you want, or need to unload on a total strangers shoulder. Not looking to meet you or talking to you on the phone. Emails pertaining to our similar situations are just fine. Take care!
