Though the Labrador retriever yet again topped the charts for the most dogs registered in 2018, it's not necessarily the most popular breed by another standard.
That honor actually goes to Rottweilers when examining 2019 Google trends data -- and not a single U.S. state had Labrador retrievers top their Google trends data, according to a recent analysis by online furniture retailer Joybird.
Washington state's top-searched dog was the Siberian husky, an honor shared by Connecticut. Idaho and Alaska each searched for bloodhounds the most.
In their analysis, Joybird examined the Google trends data for each of the top 50 most popular breeds as reported by the American Kennel Club's registrations for 2018.

When it comes to search data, the only breed listed in the top three that also has a top-three spot for AKC is the golden retriever, which places second and third respectively.
Rottweilers were the most-searched breed in seven states. Golden retrievers and Shih Tzus were most searched in four states each.
