ALS: Haze Obscura

2019 ALES FOR ALS BEER. Brown Ale? India Brown Ale? NE Brown Ale? Haze Obscura is an experiment in flavors. This dark ale has been made with over 90% wheat malt to provide a body that is both roasty and soft. An expressive NE-style yeast was used and the beer was hopped four times during fermentation with the 2019 Ales For ALS Hop Blend.

ALS: The Catch

2019 ALES FOR ALS BEER. In honor of the late Dwight Clark, a West Coast hero, this dry West Coast Double IPA is oozing with the aromatic and delicious ALS Hop Blend which features Mosaic, Simcoe and Loral along with five other hops. It's big and bold just like Dwight was!

Bébé Belge

A classic Belgian-inspired ale featuring a malt bill of Pilsner, Wheat, and Aromatic malts.

Boycott

The verb ‘boycott’ came from Charles Boycott, an English landlord so disagreeable and disliked that he was shunned by an entire village thus originating the term ‘to boycott’. Our Boycott Best Bitter, though, is much more agreeable. Boycott is made with Scottish Golden Promise malt, dark English crystal malt, with additions of UK Target, UK Goldings, UK Jester, and American Centennial hops.

Canadian Bushwhacker

This strong sweet ale features Canadian Oat and Rye malt along with dark maple syrup to give it a dessert like finish at 9.3% ABV.

Citraphile

Citraphile double IPA uses only Citra hops - over 4lb per barrel to be exact. This beer is a definite throwback to the West Coast DIPAs that we know and love - Citraphile has a touch of Crystal 40 malt and a lingering 99 IBUs along with being 8.8% ABV.

Don't Call Me Dodder

This beer was made for a "Beers Made by Walking" event. The goal was to get inspired by local fauna/flora and to make a beer. The walk took place around the South Bay Salt Ponds and our beer was inspired by the visual aspects of our walk, mostly the bright orange color of the Dodder plant, a parasitic plant that grows attached to other plants and looks like a tangled mess of orange twine. This beer was made with Bravo, El Dorado and an experimental hop. It also has a unique ingredient giving the beer an orange hue: beets!

Dwarf Galaxy

This beer is dedicated to our many beer loving friends who clamor for flavorful but low ABV session beers. Dwarf Galaxy is such a beer and is modeled after our Milky Way Stout but with a hint of an English Dark Mild Ale. We find the lower ABV when done properly can enrich the chocolate, roasty, sweet flavors of a Milk Stout.

Our English-inspired brown ale has characteristics of English Porter with its brown malt toastiness but rather than finishing dry and roasty ends with a pleasing toffee sweetness.

Harry's "Just A Little More"

For this strong English Mild Ale, we collaborated with a local homebrewer Harry Graham to celebrate his 35th year of homebrewing. Harry was the first president of Silicon Valley Sudzers, one of the South Bay’s premier homebrew clubs. The recipe for this strong English Mild was Harry’s creation, and we know that you’ll love it as much as we do.

NCSA Mosaic

This hoppy red features Mosaic hops and is named after one of the first web browsers called NCSA Mosaic. For us, NCSA means Northern California Strong Ale. =) This beer features loads of delicious Mosaic hops!

Pillow Fort

A Hazy / Juicy IPA made with Apollo, Citra, and Warrior hops. Pillow Fort has a uniquely juicy flavor profile from being fermented with three different yeast strains. This beer is dry hopped with an abundance of Apollo and Citra hops.

Tipsy Hipster

A hazy IPA brewed that prominently features Simcoe and Chinook hops plus a few other hops during the boil. Dry hops are then added both during and after fermentation to accentuate hop aroma. The malt base of American 2-row Barley malt, and sizable addition of flaked oats provides a smooth mouthfeel without getting in the way of the hops.

TR4

TR4 is a German-style Leichtes Wizen which essentially means a light hefeweizen style ale that is still rich and flavorful like a traditional hefeweizen but at a lower alcohol level. This is a fantastic beer to defeat the summer heat!

    Growing up in Colorado, Adrian was surrounded by great craft breweries like Avery, Odell's and Left Hand. After a few misadventures with homebrewing in college and moving to California he took the hobby more seriously. Christine has seen this hobby grow to a garage-consuming obsession and now business. Somehow, she continues to put up with it.

    A software engineer by day, Colin discovered what would come to be known as craft beer while in college and began homebrewing at about the same time. He returned to homebrewing several years ago, after a hiatus that included training for a number of endurance sports for charity, and enjoys a lot of the DIY aspect of the hobby -- both in making the actual beer, as well as the piecing together equipment. When not working or planning more brewing projects, he can often be found training for his next endurance race. Liz discovered brewing right before meeting Colin and continues to love to learn all that she can about styles and techniques.

    dWiGhT Mulcahy makes a living as a Senior Software Developer in the heart of Silicon Valley during the day but lives a dual life as an avid homebrewer during his free time. He has amassed over 200 ribbons with over a dozen BestOfShows in California and Texas winning multiple awards at National events. The winner of several ProAm events, he has brewed on several "big-boy" systems hoping one day to fulfill his dream of shoveling out grain from the mash tun for a living. Born in Texas but raised in Germany he calls himself a Native German Texan and loves his bier! Prost!
