    Why did Microsoft pay ~$50 million+ to get Ninja on Mixer? This isn't about selling Xbox consoles. It's a platform play for xCloud, and Microsoft needs as many entry points to it as possible. Google has YouTube + Stadia and Amazon has Twitch. Microsoft has Xbox + Mixer + xCloud

    I'm all for continuity between platforms, but occasionally you have to treat devices differently. What makes sense on a phone doesn't always make sense for a TV.

    Google is so stupid. They changed the volume pop-up on Android TV Pie to match phones. So instead of a thin, mostly transparent pop-up at the top of the screen, an opaque, white pop-up blocks content on the side of the screen.

    The one exception to this is Metric. Discovered them through Scott Pilgrim. They released a new album in recently and it feels just like that first song. Their whole discography is really good.

    There are a lot of bands that I like because I heard a song in a movie once. I'll look up their other stuff and it's not as good. Later, I'll remember the band and go check out their new music. It never lives up to that first song I heard.

    lukewarm take on the oppo "waterfall screen:" it doesn't look any cooler than a samsung phone and is probably 10x more annoying to use

    Phones are not the problem. What we do with them is the problem. Imagine social media didn't exist. What would you spend time doing on your phone? More importantly, what would you feel *bad* about spending time doing?
