ToolTip NT Source Code?

Hello,

I see that the author of ToolTip NT (Brent Hildebrand) unfortunately passed away in 2020. Does anybody here know who maintains ToolTip now since Brent's passing, if anyone? Alternatively, does anyone have the source code or happen to know what the licensing for it might be? I have run across some issues with it that I would be happy to fix if the source is available.

Thanks!

Esword loading up and locking up problems-I cannot use at all.

Last week, September 1, I used esword just fine in the morning. I did not do any updates to computer. That night i attempted to open up the program and it failed to load up and gave me the message that esword was already in use and if i would like to open another program. This has been a constant for the last week. I have tried various things to attempt to fix.

1st i tried clearing my local temp files and other things that might be using RAM. No change.

I installed the latest version of esword, did the same thing. Did not like the new 15.2 esword changes btw.

I uninstalled 15 and went back to 14 and still the same thing-dialog box saying esword is open already but it wouldn't load up.

Sometimes it will finally load up and open on screen but as soon as i push a button to try to use it, it locks up and then asks to close or wait for program to respond. I absolutely cannot use it.

I have shut computer down. I have restarted it. I have checked windows updates. I have checked drivers, and physically shut down esword through task manager, and on and on and on.

I have tried everything that the interwebs have thrown at me. I am not that computer literate in the sense that I don't remember all that i have done to fix this problem. I am at a loss and don't want to migrate to a new program because BLB and LOGOS are not that user friendly.

I have submitted a request for support but have not heard anything back yet.

Can someone please help?

Bible Harmony Modules on Bible Support

There are a small number of Bible Harmony modules available on Bible Support these modules were created as harx modules for use with e-Sword for PCs versions 9-14. As there is no html module format for harmony modules the harx modules cannot be used with e-Sword 15.

I have converted each module to an refi reference module for use in the reference library in e-Sword 15. These modules will work with the Android, Apple and Mac versions of e-Sword as e-Sword for PCs versions 11-14

Where can I get the TCR (The Tompson Chain Cross-Reference) in .cmtx (commentary format)

Hi friends at e-Sword BibleSupport.com

I have a question. Currently the TCR (Thompson Chain Cross-Reference) is available in .dctx and .dcti (dictionary formats)

These references in dictionary format correspond to a database in sql lite format

However, I am in need of a different format; I need to access the TCR (Thompson Chain Cross-Reference) in .cmtx (commentary format)

The reason is that I am creating documents for my Bible Study that uses the strategy of the Thompson Chain Cross-Reference for an entire Book of the Bible and want to create the cross-references and the keyword chains - I can navigate to the Book of the Bible, chapter and verse and nicely create my Bible Study document.

Any ideas or recommendations? I am using the BibleSupport website because you are the best!

Thanks

Searching with e-Sword 15

There a have a few posts from members asking about the search features in the new e-Sword 15, there are in fact two search features in this latest version of e-Sword for Windows.

The first and newest search feature is called "Super Search" this feature can be found by clicking Tools from the e-Sword menu at the top of the e-Sword 15 screen. Clicking tools will open the "Tools" drop down menu with "Super Search" being the first option on that menu. Clicking Super Search will open Super Search in a new window within e-Sword.

What is Super Search?

Super Search allows users to search for information across there entire library of modules very quickly and easily.

How Does Super Search function?

This question has been asked by several puzzled-Sword users as to how use Super Search works and how to search with it. In answer to these questions I am providing the following explanatory information:

The Super Search window has three drop down boxes and three buttons across the top of the Super Search window the drop down boxes with following functions going from left to right:

The first box is where a user types in the information being searched for

The second box lists the options of where Super Search is to search, this box has the following seven options:

Entire Library

All Bibles

All Commentaries

All Dictionaries

All Lexicons

All Devotionals

All Reference Books

The third box is where a user selects the type search that is to be performed this box includes the following four options:

All Words

Any Words

Phrase

Regex

To the left of the third box are the three buttons mentioned above they are as follows

The first button gives the option of doing a partial search

A partial search will find matches where the searched for term partially matches words such as searching for "god" in bible modules includes results such as godly and goddess as god matches the first three letters in both words.

The second button gives the option doing a case sensitive search

This option can produce different results depending whether a search for word is or isn't capitalized.

The third button is the button to start the search

Below the drop down boxes are two separate information panes that will display the results of a users search.

The left pane will display the list of modules searched with the number of search matches in brackets to the right of the modules title

The right pane will display the results from module selected by the user from the list in the left pane. The results will display in the right pane with the searched for information highlighted in light blue.

When searching commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, reference books and devotionals, the results in the left pane will include plus signs to the left of the module titles. These plus sign indicate a list of locations within these type of modules where the searched for information can be found. Clicking the title of modules in these search results will open these lists from which the user can select which results to display in he right pane.

Users can activate a small menu in the right pane a by right mouse click the small menu has the following four options:

Copy

Paste into Topic Notes

Select All

Print

In the bottom left corner of the Super Search window displays the total number of matches across the category of modules searched

The second search feature in e-Sword 15 can found in each of the individual module panes and windows within e-Sword 15 most of the panes and windows have a magnifying glass button that allows users to search which ever Commentary, Dictionary, Lexicon or Resource Book is currently active in each window or pane

The Bible pane does not have the magnifying glass button for search but instead has a tab labeled "Search" clicking this tab opens the Bible search pane withing the bible pane. The bible search pane contains all of the bible search functions found in previous versions of e-Sword for Windows.

Feature request(s)

(Re: the Windows app)

I do my Bible reading in the main Bible window, not the Bible Reading tool. That's because I want to read from specific books at my own rate and the tool isn't really geared toward that. However, there's no convenient way in the main Bible window to mark my progress. For now, I'm manually highlighting the verse where I should start next time but that's a bit clumsy, particularly since there's no Highlight toolbar button. For example:

Would it be possible to add some way to conveniently mark where I stop / should start? Maybe a button that could be toggled, a marker that could be moved, etc.? Or maybe a context menu option to tag / untag the current verse without having to specifically select its text. A small marker in the left margin would suffice visually.

While I'm thinking about it, there's a dialog box typo I've noticed for a couple of versions. "Bible Pericope" should be "Bible Periscope", presumably?

e-Sword 15.2 installation failing on Win 11 Pro

I was forced to do a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.

Beside the obvious nuisance factor of having to reinstall all my old software, I find that the one piece of software I cannot (fresh) install successfully is e-sword 15.2.

The installer hits the “validating install” Section, gets about 40% done, And then fails with a “installation interrupted" message.

I have installed the C redistributables, I made sure that the legacy media player was installed, and everything else I could think of doing. I turned off smart screen, Smart App control, disabled my antivirus, alt to no avail. I run the installer as administrator, And I have even toyed with compatibility. Still no success.

e-sword Has been my go to Bible app for many years.

Is this a known problem, or can someone out there offer another suggestion for me?
