Introduction
Cloud computing is a service model in which computing resources (such as servers, storage, databases, networking, software, and analytics) are offered on-demand over the Internet.
Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform and set of services offered by Microsoft. Azure makes computing resources available over the Internet by providing infrastructure (IaaS), platform (PaaS), and software (SaaS) services to individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Azure Forensics refers to digital forensics analysis and incident response processes on the Microsoft Azure platform. These processes are related to the investigation, evidence collection, analysis, and documentation of a cyber incident in the cloud environment.
This module explains digital forensics investigations in the Microsoft Azure environment, along with theoretical information about cloud service models. The sections of the module are as follows:
-
Understanding Cloud Forensics
-
Cloud Service Models
-
Shared Responsibility Model
-
Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model
-
Digital Forensics on Azure
-
Memory Imaging on Azure
-
Digital Forensics Workstation on Azure
Note: The first 3 sections in the list above are also included in the “AWS Forensics” and “Google Cloud Forensics” modules on LetsDefend for completeness. If you have completed one of these modules, you can skip these 3 sections and continue with the next section.
