3. Photo and Face Data — SunSafe App
3.1 Data We Collect
SunSafe includes an optional skin analysis feature that allows users to voluntarily take and submit a photograph of their face. The app collects only the facial photograph intentionally provided by the user for this feature.
SunSafe does not collect or create faceprints, facial geometry, biometric identifiers, facial recognition templates, or any other biometric data used to identify or authenticate an individual. The app does not use facial recognition, face tracking, Apple Vision, or ARKit to identify users.
3.2 Purpose of Processing
The photograph is processed solely to provide the skin analysis requested by the user. The analysis produces numerical assessments relating to visible skin characteristics, including skin condition, skin tone, tanning, and possible visible signs of UV-related skin damage.
The photograph and the resulting assessment are not used to identify or authenticate the user, build a user profile, or determine the user’s identity.
The skin analysis is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and should not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
3.3 User Notice and Consent
Taking and submitting a photograph is optional. Before the photograph is transmitted for analysis, the app informs the user that the photograph will be sent to OpenAI for analysis and will not be stored on SunSafe servers.
By choosing to proceed with the analysis after seeing this notice, the user consents to the collection, transmission, and processing of the photograph for the purpose described in this Privacy Policy.
If the user chooses not to proceed, the photograph will not be transmitted and the skin analysis will not be performed. Refusing to use this feature does not prevent the user from accessing other features of the app that do not require a facial photograph.
3.4 Processing by Google Cloud and OpenAI
To perform the requested skin analysis, the photograph is compressed and securely transmitted using encrypted HTTPS/TLS communication to an APPLIKS-operated Firebase Cloud Function hosted on Google Cloud in the us-central1 region. The Cloud Function processes the photograph transiently in memory and forwards it to OpenAI, L.L.C. solely for the purpose of providing the analysis requested by the user.

Google Cloud acts as our infrastructure service provider, and OpenAI acts as our AI processing service provider. Data submitted through the OpenAI API is not used by OpenAI to train its models. OpenAI may retain submitted API data for up to 30 days for abuse and misuse monitoring, after which it is deleted, unless retention for a longer period is required by applicable law.
3.5 Storage and Retention
The original photograph is stored locally within the app’s sandbox on the user’s device. It remains stored on the device until the user deletes it within the app or deletes the app.
A copy transmitted to OpenAI may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse and misuse monitoring. APPLIKS Sp. z o.o. does not retain a server-side copy of the photograph.

4. The purposes of collecting the information
We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
- Provide you the service, App and customer support you request;
- Verify your account;
- Resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems;
- Prevent and investigate potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and/or violations of our posted Terms;
- Customize, measure, and improve the App and the content and layout of our App;
- Deliver targeted marketing and service update notices based on your communications preferences. We will not use your information for purposes other than those purposes we have disclosed to you, without your permission.
5. Sharing your Information
We will never sell or rent your information to third parties.We may share your information from tools like log files, and device identifiers and location data, with third-party organizations that provide automatic data processing technologies for the App. We do not control or influence these third parties’ tracking technologies or how they may be used.
We may also share certain information such as cookie data with third-party advertising partners. This information allows third-party ad networks, inter alia, to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you.

6. Security
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
