Good App, Weird Notifications

I like using Slack for work, and the desktop app is the best! Slack for Intune, however, isn’t very user friendly when it comes to managing notifications and notification badges. Several issues trying to clear badges that don’t clear, messages are pushed to my phone when I’ve had it marked to not notify me on mobile, and it’s just not as easy to navigate on mobile as it is on desktop.

We began using Slack about a month ago and we were told of its great collaboration tools and how easy it is to communicate with team members and other coworkers. I find Slack to be not intuitive at all, very difficult to collaborate effectively without jumping through all kinds of hoops to set things up in a logical, comprehensive way. You cannot share files easily depending on where you are, working on projects with others is way more difficult in Slack than just using SharePoint tools which aren’t really that great. Just not impressed at all.

Messy tool with non-intuitive features

While the concepts of Slack seem good, the implementation is messy. Threads seem well intentioned but make finding responses cumbersome. When new content is published, the channel is at the top, but once you read it, it moves somewhere and is not easily found. Searching more likely than not returns a multitude of results and filtering with additional criteria then yields no results. Working with more than one org makes this worse. If my company would not MANDATE the use of Slack, I would not touch it with a 10ft pole and a hazmat suit.

Finding messages is tough

There should be a way to organized by most recently interacted thread when multitasking with conversations in multiple different channels group messages and threads that might be continuations of old messages insigne a channel it’s easy to get lost when having to back to that thread and add more comments . The sorting of active conversations has gotten even more confusing the past year or so
