Get more out of your smart home. Your HomeKit and Matter devices can do more than on and off: Controller for HomeKit gives you dashboards you build yourself, workflows that run over several steps, months of history, and a floor plan you control directly.
YOUR OWN DASHBOARD
Your devices sit where you need them, instead of in a list.
- Views you compose yourself from tiles: per home, per person, and if you want, per device. One for the iPad on the wall, one for the iPhone in your pocket.
- More than 25 tile variants: devices, scenes, workflows, time, weather, calendar, charts, battery warnings.
- Five standard sizes, or drag your own size on the grid.
- Visibility conditions: a tile or a whole section appears only when you need it.
- Plus widgets for your Home Screen and a view of your own on Apple Watch.
CONTROLLER AI
Describe what you need in plain language: a dashboard, a scene, an automation or a workflow. Controller builds it, and you adjust it however you like afterwards.
MORE THAN A SCHEDULE
Two devices become a sequence that thinks along.
- Workflows: multiple steps, conditions and branches for sequences a single automation cannot express.
- Automations with advanced triggers and conditions.
- States: virtual switches that capture how your home currently stands and drive your workflows accordingly.
- Custom notifications for anything you want to know about.
- NFC tags: one tap and the workflow runs.
YOUR SENSORS ARE ALREADY MEASURING
Controller remembers the values and makes them readable.
- Charts: see how temperature, humidity or battery level develop over weeks and months, across every device and brand.
- Maintenance: which battery is empty, which device is unreachable, which automation is broken.
- Logs: every activity and every change, traceable.
- Smart folders: devices and automations grouped by filters you define.
- Floor Plan: scan your home with the LiDAR sensor of your iPhone or iPad and control your devices right on the plan.
- Controller Hub: a dedicated iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac runs your workflows automatically. Charts and States require Controller Hub.
SHARE THE WORK, NOT JUST THE SWITCHES
- Home Sharing: pass your entire setup to the people you live with. For each person you choose between the whole app or only the dashboards you share with them.
- Setup codes: your HomeKit and Matter codes stay safe in the app and never get lost.
- Backups: save your setup and restore it whenever you need to.
Controller for HomeKit runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV.
You already own the devices. Controller for HomeKit brings out what is in them.

This app is the best HomeKit manager available. The Apple Home app is excellent for automations converted to Shortcuts, but beyond that, you have to have access to more power of the HomeKit API. This app is exactly that. Use it with Apple’s HomeKit and Home app. The ability to peg exact attributes of lights is, alone, worth the price. I can now peg exact matches for lights across scenes. Color Temp, Saturation, Hue, Brightness, and Power. Five attributes for every single device! Exact matches are easy. I will say that it take patience. When setting attributes, some times you wait a few to see it accept the result. No biggie. Just wait on it. Build your scenes EXACTLY as desired. Don’t try to replace the Home App. Use that and Shortcuts and Siri all you want. This app is for configuring stuff behind the scenes more than a front end. I nearly never write reviews. This is worth it. I bought the $65 Lifetime without hesitation. How many $40-$50 bulbs do you own…. Spend this and be thrilled with the access and power. I have only had it for a few days. Changed my HomeKit! I redid all scenes with exact accuracy. I am thrilled!UPDATE: I just installed the MAC app. No delay there, it appears! Fast to configure a scene with every attribute pegged. Fast. Better. Much faster (responsive) than the iPad app.
Expand Apple Home’s Capabilities
soccerman1930
This app is a great extension of Apple Home’s capabilities. It has allowed me to create more complex Automations with multiple conditions not possible just using the Apple Home app. The backup feature is also nice to have, especially if you have spent a lot of time customizing your setup. The recent addition of Workflows really ups the capabilities even further. I use an old iPad to run Workflows I have created using this app. What I like about the Workflows is that they run on the dedicated iPad, taking some load off of the Apple Home hub. The workflows allow If/then/else conditions, loops, and even more capabilities. All of these additional capabilities would not be valuable if the Workflows didn’t run reliably. But they do run reliably on my dedicated iPad! I have been using this app for years now and highly recommend it. It is the next logical step forward from the Apple Home app as your home’s setup expands. It doesn’t replace the Apple Home app, it complements it.

Thanks for the detailed review, that means a lot.Good to hear your old iPad runs the Workflows reliably - background execution is thepart we care most about. And "it complements Apple Home rather than replacing it" isexactly how we see the app ourselves. If you ever hit something or have an idea, just write tosupport@controller-for-homekit.com.Jan
Automations are not deleted when deleting from HomeKit
crownkid
The Controller for HomeKit is a great app. I purchased the lifetime quite a while back because I am a power smart home user. That said, I am always having to delete this app and reinstall to clear no longer used automations. When I have to redo an automation, it is NOT deleted in this app. I see automations with numbers, like (lights on) 1, 2, 3, 4, etc) and no way to just clear the list. Not only that, the list of the same automations (not being deleted) adds to the number of automations for Apple Home and when you think you only have 35-40 automations, it stops you from creating more because it is using the numbers in the Controller app. This is the most frustrating thing of the app. If you have fixed it, then thank you. I really want to build on this app for my home but it is an ongoing tedious and time consuming chore to clear old automations no longer in use. PLEASE PLEASE fix this! Thanks

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the trouble. A lot has changed since then, and Controller is now on version 10. If you still run into it, write to me at support@controller-for-homekit.com. Jan
10.0 hears and honors lifetime license
Mac n iOS User
UPDATE OCT 2026:They have restored lifetime licenses!!! They listened to the community. They have granted all the features and restored it all. This is a huge step in restoring credibility and confidence in Controller. Thanks so much for hearing and responding to the community. UPDATE: Adding insult to thievery, they force several pages to choke you with subscription payment shoved in your face. At least have the respect to let us hide you insult to lifetime licenses demotion. I don’t want to see your demands for a subscription when I am just trying to use the app. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Do not upgrade. Do not subscribe. Do not trust this company or its license purchases. They just screwed us all!!! They are fraudulent. They stole a feature away that was included previously. They demoted lifetime licenses to “essential” lifetime licenses. They took our money, made a promise to include all features forever. Then they stabbed us in the back. Now all new features are locked behind a subscription rental service. If they do not want to offer new people lifetime licenses any more, that would be an honest approach to limiting their financial commitments. But to demote a devoted base of lifetime license holders, who had a promise when they put the very expensive price, and strip away features is pure dishonesty and theft. It is fraud! They should honor their existing lifetime license promises that all features were always included. Make it a historic offer no longer available to new buyers. But don’t stew us. Refund our money if you are going to be lying about the lifetime promise.
Developer Response
Thank you for coming back to this. You were right to be angry, and the subscription screens on top of it didn't help. With 10, both are fixed: your lifetime license includes everything, and you won't see a paywall anymore. Jan
