Great Story, grinding gameplay
Grantastic Reviewer
I loved the way that it so seamlessly created a distinct universe and the RPG system was fun and simple, but not too restrictive. It has a morality system and I know many people complain about that, but from my point of view, it’s either that or the pathetic “role-playing” of Mass Effect Andromeda so, I choose morality. It has a good amount of choices, fun characters, romance, and plot twists, enough to definitely keep you interested. It is on the short side (doing every side quest I could) it took me about 14 hours, but luckily it doesn’t overstay its welcome and leaves you wanting more. Now for the weakest link, the gameplay. It starts out trying to trick you into thinking its slightly more complex than it is, saying you can block, power attack, block, and use combos with different styles. The truth is that you should just spam one style and just keep using that (except for the few enemies which are immune to certain attacks.) The best styles I found during my playthrough were Leaping Tiger, Jade Golem, and Mirabelle. Just keep using those and upgrading them and you’ll kill everyone. The enemies are easily stunlocked, way too easily. Still, I loved the game, and it was definitely worth the price. I’ll have to try KOTOR 1 and 2 next and compare them to this Bioware game.
LEMME JUST….

Okay, I’m just gonna start out saying that this may be the most overlooked and underrated classic ever. So the graphics aren’t jaw dropping. That’s fine. It just means the game will take up less storage. The gameplay is surprisingly fluid, and the plot is mind boggling. My favorite part about this game, though, is that the choices you make in-game actually shape the story as you play, so you either become a follower of the “open palm” or the “closed fist.” This game mostly open world too, which is always a plus. The only thing that truly sadens be about this great game is its length. I beat the main storyline in about 15 hours thinking that once I beat the main story, I could go back and do all the extras I missed. Unfortunately, this game was made to be more of a movie-like experience, so once you finish the game, it’s back to the main menu for you. You can save right before it ends and go back, but where’s the fun in that? you can also make a new character and start over, but the game wan’t really long enough that I felt the need. Anyways, overall this was a super great game, and I absolutely love it. I just wish there was more. Maybe a sequel? That’s just my opinion, but don’t miss out on this game y’all. Definately worth the ten bucks easily. Great job developers.
Good Game, Bioware Fans May Be Disapointed
HI I AM AWESOMENESS
If you are someone who’s playing this game after you finished KOTOR, then this game might be alittle dissapointing for you. There isn’t a whole lot of customization. In fact, you can’t even change the clothes of your party, or choose how your party members level up, and you can only play as the main character. The combat is also very simplistic compared to KOTOR. With that said, I did enjoy Jade Empire. Even if it is different from most BioWare games, I still think that you should give it a try, especially if you haven’t played a BioWare game before.Edit: I would also recommend playing this game with a controller, as this game was an Xbox exclusive.
Jade Empire: A great starting point in the BioWare experience
Jeyl
Jade Empire marked a huge turning point for the software developer BioWare after the release of the critically and financially successful “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic”. Instead of develping games based on established intellectual properties (Star Wars, Dungeons and Dragons), Jade Empire was the studios' first big push at creating their own IPs while still maintaining their unique mechanics that made BioWare stand out in the gaming industry. A well told story, memorable characters, great voice acting, player choice, moral systems and the option to initiate a romance with other characters. What makes Jade Empire a great starting point in the BioWare experience is that unlike the studios’ other IP titles such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age, Jade Empire is a well-rounded, standalone storyline that really feels complete once you beat it. The game’s length doesn’t outstay it’s welcome and the amount of options you can make in new playthroughs definitely add much to the replay value. Being an 11 year old game also helps in the performance department as well.So if you’re looking for a nice and original IP that offers a lot in terms of character and setting, Jade Empire is well worth the price.
