Version 5.9.18 is now available.

Improved the reliability of email sending and send history.

Simplified Settings and restored the previous approach to usage analytics and app discovery measurement.

Added a separate setting to opt in to or withdraw from app discovery measurement. Measurement is off by default, and all features remain available without consent.

Internal improvements to support more reliable email delivery.

Improved the review of queued emails before retrying, including their contents and original recipients. Added a folder-reselection flow for eligible Obsidian memos whose original destination cannot be read. Updated draft and voice-input handling to protect new input after sending a memo.

This maintenance update reorganizes internal code while preserving existing features and behavior.

Improved stability in the memo history interface. The regular memo-saving flow is unchanged.

Meet Dialogue Memo: a note that asks a follow-up question. Answer short questions to turn an unfinished idea into a readable note. Start with the dialogue icon above the microphone and answer without leaving the composer. A live waveform shows microphone activity. Review and edit in the same memo field, then use the existing Send button. Questions and note organization use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. A supported device with Apple Intelligence enabled is required. Voice input also requires a supported speech model and microphone permission. No Siri setup is needed. Regular typing and dictation remain available. We also removed the final AirPods step from onboarding. The dialogue icon now matches the microphone button in size and spacing for a cleaner appearance. Improved conversation start and finish decisions, with more helpful follow-up questions when a thought is hard to express. Speech playback and microphone capture now share an audio session to reduce the wait between turns. Refined dialogue speech playback and selection of high-quality voices available on the device. Shortened Japanese questions and adjusted speaking and response pacing. Refined follow-up questions for the topic being captured, including product ideas and meeting notes. Redesigned the conversation status card for clearer spacing and made the dialogue button purple to distinguish it from the microphone. Dialogue Memo can now explore ideas and reflections through relevant reasons, situations and takeaways, one question at a time. It respects details already provided and requests to finish, helping you capture a more developed note.

Restored the sign-in options in the new-account flow, with third-party sign-in shown before email entry. Updated the first voice-input example to a simpler phrase. Also includes visual cleanup around the Send button and reliability improvements for offline retry, voice editing, history, and purchase restoration.

Fixed repeated Watch sync retries when the destination is unavailable. If the app closes during registration, you can resume with your existing verification code and waiting memo. Improved handling of memo delivery and save results.

Purchase restoration now distinguishes an unsuccessful check from having no active subscription. You can confirm the recipient before sending a test email. Service notices can also appear in the app when relevant.

Improved diagnostic observations for Siri requests that cannot proceed because setup is incomplete or a usage limit is reached. Memo content is not included in these diagnostic observations.

Improved note retention and retries after connection interruptions or restarting the app. Made it easier to switch to typing on first use, and clarified destination setup and sign-in guidance. Improved Apple Watch resync and the handoff from Obsidian to email when a note needs to be sent by email. Improved measurement of successful Notion saves, without including the content of your notes.

Removed "Connect to Notion" from the first destination setup screen. Connect Notion from Settings instead.

Internal cleanup. Code that had been copied across several screens is now a single implementation, and unused code and duplicated project settings were removed. Nothing about how the app looks or behaves has changed from 5.8.5. There are no bug fixes or new features here -- it clears the way for the next one.

Internal cleanup. We removed code that was no longer used anywhere and split the settings screen's code into a separate file. Nothing about how the app looks or behaves has changed from 5.8.4. There are no bug fixes or new features in this release -- it clears the way for the next one.

Fixed "Start voice input on launch" so that it also works when you reopen the app from the Home screen. Until now it only ran after the app had been fully quit, so voice input often did not start on the launches you actually make. If you leave the app while you are still speaking, voice input now picks up where you left off when you come back. The microphone could previously stop responding. Thank you to everyone who reported this.

Fixed an error message that showed an internal identifier instead of a sentence when Sign in with Apple failed. It affected French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic; those languages now fall back to the English message. We also updated the privacy manifest bundled with the app so that it matches what the app actually does. Nothing changes in how the app looks or behaves in English or Japanese.

We rebuilt how new features reach you. Until now a feature was either on for everyone or off for everyone, with no quick way to pull it back if something went wrong. This release adds staged delivery — features can go out to a small group first and widen only if things look healthy — along with the ability to switch one off immediately. Nothing looks or behaves differently in this version. It is the groundwork for delivering future features more carefully.

Decide how each line is appended to Obsidian. For those who capture a thought and then open Obsidian just to add a checkbox (- [ ] ) by hand. Pick a template in Settings → Advanced → "Append format" and it is added for you from then on. ・Choose a checkbox, a bullet, or a quote — or type your own ・Add it at the start or at the end of the line ・Use a different template for iPhone and for Apple Watch ・Change nothing and your notes are appended exactly as before

An internal fix. Nothing changes in how the app looks or works. Thank you for using Simple Memo.

We fixed problems that could leave you stuck on the screen where you set your destination email address. On some devices the address field came up with a keyboard you could not type an address on, and the sign-in buttons stopped responding after the first tap. We also stopped the Apple Watch app from retrying over and over when it cannot reach your iPhone, which saves battery. Thank you for using Simple Memo.

We rewrote the screen you see the first time you use voice input, so it says more plainly what the microphone and speech recognition are for, with clearer wording on the button. We also shortened the text so it breaks in sensible places on screen. Nothing about how the app behaves has changed. Thank you for using Simple Memo.

Fewer stumbles when summoning Siri from AirPods. On AirPods Pro and AirPods 4, pressing and holding the stem switches Noise Control by default — it does not start Siri. It makes a sound either way, so it is easy to miss, and some people stopped there. ・The guide now opens with "First, summon Siri" and spells out the model difference and how to change it (Settings → Bluetooth → ⓘ next to your AirPods → Press and Hold AirPods → Siri) ・"Hey Siri" is shown first, since it works the same on every model ・Siri now reliably recognizes the app by the name the guide tells you to say ・If no memo has arrived from Siri, the app now shows the usual causes on one screen
