"The biggest thing about successfully building software, hardware, whatever you build is attention. If you do not pay attention, if you do not give this thing the attention it deserves, no matter how many coding assistants, no matter no matter how many harnesses, dark factories, whatever you want to call them you have, you're not going to be able to build a successful thing." Darko Mesaroš, Distinguished Developer Advocate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) drops the mic about building culture. We've quickly moved beyond the idea that "fail-fast" as a go-to-market, product or feature launch strategy is good idea, into the direction of create with intention. Agents and Dark Factories make it possible to ship a full company in just a few hours, but is it worth it? Maybe - the only way to know if what you've created has any weight or quality to it, is to actually spend some time with it. Check out the full video below to get Darkos' takes on building agents, emphasizing the importance of choosing correct frameworks and implementing proper policy frameworks to control agent behavior. He includes a few new developments from AWS: - Kira Crew: An open-source agent workspace designed to build code, which supports cross-session memory management and various plugins. - Elastic Beanstalk: Recently updated with a new "cluster mode" feature for deploying applications. - Dogwood Policy: An open-source, policy-based language that adds temporal features to the existing Cedar language to prevent agents from performing unauthorized tool calls.

The last mile of AI is not artificial. Telecom learned this years ago. The value is where the customer meets the network. In AI, it is where new intelligence meets the old. The new is agentic. The old is political. Our org charts were built for the latter. From WeAreDevelopers to CV Summit to World Summit AI and the annual gathering in Atherton with Greylock Partners and Morgan Stanley: - AI is decoupling. Models, agents and tools are separating. Switch AI does for the agentic stack what routing did for packets: it moves the parts and measures the work. - Humans are the bottleneck. Measured in tokens, an agent can hold 2M. A human holds about 2K, and trending down. We need AI to guard AI. Offloading is no cure, as it accelerates the atrophy of our critical thinking and even as orchestrators, we are unable stay in the loop on everything. - Exploration grows the economy. Efficiency reallocates it. The walls between physics, chemistry and biology are dissolving, and large quantitative models (LQMs) speak the language of the universe, not just its description. Quantum does not compete with AI, it complements it for specific workloads in the natural world. Our edge is judgement, creativity and trust. For now.
