Jian Hu

Jian Hu, male, is Doctor of Surgery, Zhejiang University, professor, chief physician, PhD and MD candidate supervisor. Now he assumes Chief of Department of General Thoracic Surgery and Director of Lung Disease Medical Science Center, the first Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University, Chief Scientist of the National Key Research and Development Program of the 13th Five-Year Plan, principal of degree program of cardio-thoracic surgery in school of medicine, Zhejiang University and principal of lung transplantation which is one of the key innovative medicine disciplines of Zhejiang Province, and head of innovative diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, which is one of the key disciplines of the 13th Five-Year Plan Zhejiang Province Traditional Chinese Medicine (integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine).

Dr. Hu has been devoted to clinic, teaching and research on thoracic surgery for over 30 years. His main area includes clinical and fundamental research of lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mediastinal tumor, as well as clinical and fundamental research of minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery, da Vinci robotic thoracic surgery and lung transplant. He operates more than 1000 surgeries every year, and with the principle of minimal invasion and cure, individualized treatment based on standard therapy for lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mediastinal tumor is recommended to make benefits for patients. With the leadership of Dr. Hu, his team has successfully operated the first lung transplant surgery and the first da Vinci robotic thoracic surgery in Zhejiang Province. Up to August 2018, his group had operated more than 800 robotic thoracic surgeries, which is top-ranked nationwide. His team also takes the lead in operating innovative surgeries, trying new therapies, and launching new projects such as electromagnetic navigation bronchoscope. Thus they are capable of dealing with difficult and complicated diseases. In January 2013, with the concept of thoracic enhanced recovery after surgery, his team established the first domestic enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) center, and promoted transformation of ERAS concept to clinic.

Dr. Hu has published more than 120 papers (66 of which have been included by SCI) as the lead author or corresponding author. He has hosted more than 10 scientific research projects at the national, provincial or ministerial level. One of these projects is supported by the Major State Basic Research Development Program of China, and two of the projects are supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, and one of the projects is supported by Major and High Incidence Disease Major Special Foundation of Zhejiang Province, and two of the projects are supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province. In addition, he has won the third prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Zhejiang Province, the second prize and third prize of outstanding scientific research achievements of universities in Zhejiang. Besides, five patents has been acquired. In addition, he is the chief editor of Nutrition Treatment on Esophageal Carcinoma, chief translator of Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Esophageal Carcinoma and New Therapeutic Strategies in Lung Cancers. Besides, he is one of the editors of Ministry of Health’s textbooks under the Twelfth Five-year Plan for five-year, seven-year and eight-year medicine students and National Health and Family Planning Commission’s textbook for residency standard training and a member of editor committee of Department of general surgery fascicle, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery (Chinese Edition). His team has held 7 academic conferences nationwide, including 6 Xizi Forum on Thoracic Oncology. Besides, he has cultivated more than 70 maters and doctors, including 30 doctors.

Dr. Hu takes the vice chairman of Specialized Committee on Thoracic Surgery, Chinese Research Hospital Association, the vice chairman of Specialized Committee on Thoracic Surgery, Chinese Medical Education Association, the vice chairman of the Specialized Group on Thoracic oncology, Cross-strait Medical Exchange Association, the vice chairman of Expert group on hand Han syndrome, Branch of Thoracic Surgery, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the vice chairman of Department of Thoracic Surgery, Committee for Healthcare Simulation, and the vice chairman of Sympathetic Surgery, Committee on Thoracic Surgery, Wu Jieping Medical Foundation. He also takes the standing committee member of Committee on Thoracic Surgery and the standing committee member of Committee on Medical Robotics, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the deputy chief of Rehabilitation Group of Thoracic Surgery, Committee on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare. In addition, he takes the standing committee member on Committee of Minimally Invasive Surgery Expert and the committee member on Committee of Mediastinal and Chest Wall Surgery, Committee on Thoracic Surgery, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the committee member on Committee of Transplant and the committee member on Committee of Thoracoscopy Surgery Group, Chinese Medical Association, and etc.
