Month after month, our Co-Working Days at the Lab keeps growing. Join one session, a few, or all of them, or simply come along to co-work as you usually do. 👉🏽Swipe through to see what's on! Got something you'd love to share with the Lab? Pitch Hour is your way in. This could well be a scene from Inception, but it's not 🙃. Just a little sneak peek at how our online webinars come together behind the scenes. 🎬 Multiple screens, real-time production, and a lot of what storytelling is about. Our next Story Canvas Webinar is happening on Tuesday September 22 at 1pm. If you've been curious about what storytelling is, or you're not sure if you got a story to tell, this one's for you. Did we mention it's free? 🤓 Link in comments to register. See you there!

Here's a little little snapshot of a Digital Storytellers workshop Jayde Harding and I facilitated recently on Southern Yuin Country, with the Living Knowledge Network team and wider community. Always a joy to share digital storytelling skills and seeing the creativity flow. I also loveddd listening to the story ideas shared about caring for Country and listening to elders, shaped by the high school students with guidance from the Living Knowledge Network team and community mentors. Follow the Living Knowledge Network to learn more about the many threads of community-led work they are doing across the continent to amplify Traditional Knowledge Systems and care for Country 🖤💛❤️ They're entering an exciting new chapter that I can't wait to see unfold. And this has got to be the most beautiful workshop location I've been to all year?? No doubt.

We've been working on something in the background, and we're excited to finally share it with the community. 🤓 After many years of running our Stories for Impact courses, where people from all walks of life come to learn how to tell their story, we've designed a new workshop structure, built to make it easier to start learning the craft, no matter where you're starting from.🌟 Same craft, five ways to move through it. A free webinar to start. A half day. A full day. A two-day intensive. Or entirely self-paced, online. 👉🏽 The next round of workshops runs in September and October, across Sydney - Gadigal, Melbourne - Naarm, and Noosa - Kabi Kabi. 📍Follow the link in comments to learn all about the next round.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves 🙃. This is exactly what our co-working days are about: the unexpected conversations, the shared meals, the connections that happen when people just show up. If this sounds like your kind of day, come join us on Wednesday 29 July. And don't miss what's on after hours: a conversation on working with government with Amelia Loye (Engage2) and Zoé Kennedy (Spark & Co). See you there 👊🏽
One of the things I love about being part of a curated space like the Digital Storytellers Impact Story Lab is the unexpected connections, collaborations and opportunities that naturally emerge. I'm also excited to share that I've recently upgraded to a more formal Impact Story Lab Sydney Partner Membership 👏 At the most recent Open Day, I had the chance to: Update my profile photos with Jay & Caitlin Williams from Nacara Studio (I'll need your help choosing my new profile pic!) 📷 Enjoy delicious food from Racha Syrian kitchen's 😋 Chat with Jeremy Thomas from Environmentarian about giving my website a refresh 💻 Taste and get some beautiful organic wine and olive oil from Peter Dowson and Friendly Farms. 🍷 Plan my next Camp Venture facilitator training with the ever-talented Kumkum Dubey 🎲 Talk all things community engagement, community development, impact measurement, social value and social investment with Amelia Loye from Engage2 😊 Catch up with my good friend and colleague Kate Munro OAM from Luminosity Youth Development Solutions before we lose her to Bermagui! 😀 And that's just scratching the surface. These kinds of spaces remind me that some of the best ideas don't come from formal meetings and networking events, they emerge over coffee, shared meals, games, curiosity and genuine spontaneous conversations. If you're curious, why not come along and experience the magic for yourself? https://lnkd.in/gw49Kxy2 See you there! ✨

Are you a social or environmental impact organisation looking to have your story told through film? 🎬 🪴 ❤️ Digital Storytellers is looking for 2 more impact orgs to match with emerging impact filmmakers and have their stories told through film in our Pathway to Purpose program. Last year, Pocket City Farms was one of the impact orgs matched with our storytellers, resulting in this gorgeous film! Pathway to Purpose (supported by the City of Sydney) is a program that walks the next generation of storytellers through turning their passion into a career, paired with top-tier mentors, real-world social and environmental impact stories, and a chance to showcase their work to the world! As an impact org, you'll get: - A 2-5 minute crafted video story for your organisation, produced by Pathway to Purpose participants, with quality and process overseen by Digital Storytellers - The film shown at a celebration screening at the Impact Story Lab - The finished film plus raw footage, yours to use across all your platforms What we ask of impact orgs: - A financial contribution, which goes towards paying the storytellers and running the program - Time to walk us through your story using the Story Canvas, so your storytellers head in the right direction - Support helping storytellers coordinate interviews and filming, so the right people and places get captured Reach out to me if you're interested or have Qs! Peter Dowson Mikey Leung
Please watch this 3 minute film that beautifully tells the Pocket City Farm story! Our urban farm in the heart of Sydney was selected for the Pathway to Purpose Program run by Digital Storytellers. Young filmmakers were asked to film and produce a short video that tells the story of each social enterprise and their positive impact on the world.
