NEW: Amazon is investing €4.8 billion to expand AWS cloud infrastructure in the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region, part of a broader €16 billion investment in Germany in 2027. The company has invested double-digit billions of euros in its cloud infrastructure since launching the Frankfurt Region in 2014 and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in Germany in January 2026. The investment reflects continued strong demand for cloud and AI from customers across Germany, from startups and the Mittelstand to enterprises like adidas, BMW, Bundesliga, Siemens, Sixt, and Zalando. Beyond infrastructure, AWS is investing in Germany's workforce and communities, including the country's first national cloud computing certification apprenticeship program and the EnergyCloud project that converts surplus renewable energy into free heating for families.
