Canada's movement for youth mental health 💙 Le mouvement canadien pour la santé mentale des jeunes

About us

Jack.org works with youth across Canada to teach mental health fundamentals, reduce stigma, create peer-to-peer connections, and create communities of belonging to help young people own their mental health journeys. Suicide is still the leading health-related cause of death for youth in Canada. Countless young people live with ’that feeling’ of anxiety, stress, despair, or loneliness. It’s a crisis that’s hard to see and harder to live through. With our help, across classrooms and campuses, in communities across the country, youth are focussing on prevention by taking charge of their mental health, and looking out for their peers.

  • Zahra and Jessy noticed that many students at their school were carrying mental health struggles quietly. As Grade 10 students, they saw that many of their peers did not know where to turn, and that even when support was available, stigma and fear of judgment could make it hard to reach out. 💙 Zahra and Jessy chose to start a Mental Health Committee. They created spaces where students can talk, shared daily mental health messages during school announcements, and put up posters around the school to make conversations about wellbeing feel more normal and to encourage students to seek support. Their story shows that this movement is led by young people, who bring their own ideas and care to their communities every day. You can read more about Zahra and Jessy in our 2026 Impact Report through the link in our bio. 🔗 #JackOrg #JackCommunities #ImpactReport #YouthMentalHealth #YouthLed #StudentLeadership #MentalHealthAwareness #BeThere

  • Every culture has something to teach us about wellness. Together in Change: Strengthening Indigenous Mental Health is designed to help secondary students explore diverse, culturally grounded approaches to mental health — inspired by Indigenous perspectives shared through video, discussion prompts, and classroom activities. Topics include how climate emergencies, such as wildfires, can affect Indigenous mental health and community connection — including the emotional impact of displacement, why Indigenous communities are often disproportionately affected, and practical ways young people can support themselves and others. It's a practical, curriculum-aligned way to broaden how students think about caring for their mental health. Explore and download Together in Change at Jack.org/edHUB.

  • 100,000+ Be There Certificate completions 🎉 That's 100,000+ steps closer to a world where every young person gets the support they need when they're struggling. And it's just one of the many milestones we're celebrating this year. From launching new programs, creating spaces where young people feel seen, and reaching more young people with the tools to support themselves and each other, it's been a BIG year at Jack.org. Read about the difference we made together: https://lnkd.in/e98vE-sY This progress is a reflection of the work of tens of thousands of young people, educators, donors, and supporters who showed up this year to let youth know they matter. Onwards to a future where no young person struggles alone 💙

  • Young people are turning to AI chatbots for mental health support. But they're not necessarily talking about it. Our latest Youth Voice Report found that nearly half of young people surveyed who use AI for their mental health haven't told anyone 👀 In the latest episode of Jack Amplified, we're talking about why young people are turning to AI, what it tells us about gaps in mental health support, and how we can show up when someone opens up about using AI for their mental health. Incredible to see Toronto Maple Leafs’ Nick Paul stepping up to support youth mental health 👏👏 For every point scored this year, he’ll be donating $150 to Jack.org, helping more youth and those around them understand mental health and get support early. Read more about Nick’s support: https://lnkd.in/emDAqBuy On behalf of thousands of young people across Canada who benefit from our programs each year: thank you Nick 💙

  • This World Mental Health Day, you can read about our work in the Toronto Star. 60% of young people turn to informal supports first when they're in crisis. Equipping the people who can spot struggle early – the busy parent, the childhood friend, the attentive teacher – with the tools they need to help is how we prevent crisis and tragedy. If you’d like to take action to support mental health: share our work, learn how to be there for those in your life, or double your support with a matched donation today, thanks to Ardene!

Research into how men in Canada are living, what is resonating, and where we are suffering is helping to build the next generation of programs that work. At the same time our team at CMHF was conducting research to uncover the impacts of high social media use on mental health, the great folks at Jack.org were similarly researching how and why young men are turning to generative AI for answers. Their research suggests young men need help. They know they need help and they’re actively looking for it, but the traditional ways of providing mental health support and connection aren’t reaching them. Our research at CMHF shows that young men are glued to their screens, and it’s actively hurting them. When young men are reaching 6+ hours a day on social media, we know it comes with a hugely negative impact on depression, anxiety, anger, and suicidal ideation. Read the full release here: https://lnkd.in/gcKr98sy I applaud Michael Braithwaite, and his team for digging into how and why young men are using GenAI for their mental health, and I'd like to thank our research team here for showing one of the reasons modern society is requiring new solutions like this to improve men’s health. Together, organizations like ours are uncovering what men need and how we need to be reaching them to help them live better, healthier, longer.

New research on GenAI & youth mental health in Canada 📣 A few years ago, generative AI was still an emerging technology. Today, it’s part of young people’s everyday lives. Jack.org has just released a new, first-of-its-kind report exploring how and why young people are turning to GenAI for their mental health, and what their use can tell us about gaps in the system. Based on a national survey of 395 young people in Jack.org's network, our latest Youth Voice Report offers a window into a rapidly changing youth mental health landscape and what young people’s experiences with GenAI can tell us about the support they need. Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/ennDGpNJ Young people are navigating a new reality. To address it, we need to understand it. Stay tuned as we unpack more key findings from the report in the weeks to come 👀
