Certain internationally-trained specialists from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Ireland may be able to practise medicine in Ontario through our new registration pathway. Specialists trained and certified by an accepted certifying body in an approved jurisdiction may be issued a provisional practice certificate without certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. CPSO’s Board of Directors has approved amendments that strengthen expectations for physicians who prescribe safer supply medications. These amendments represent meaningful action within CPSO’s regulatory mandate to increase safeguards for patients and the public. They strengthen prescribing oversight, support supervised consumption, and help minimize harm by limiting the potential for diversion. Learn more: https://ow.ly/ulwS50ZXlS0

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. This year’s theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” reminds us of a fundamental principle: meaningful progress in mental health can be achieved only through close collaboration with people with lived experiences. As Ontario’s medical regulator, we recognize the importance of supporting the mental health of physicians and physician assistants so that health-care professionals can provide the best care to patients in Ontario. ℹ️ Visit our website for more information about programs and resources to help physicians and physician assistants facing mental health challenges: https://ow.ly/9Q8o50ZSrmx #WMHD2026

CPSO continues to streamline registration pathways for Canadian and internationally-trained physicians! We’ve approved a new registration policy that enables physicians to be granted a provisional certificate of registration to practise independently in Ontario without completing the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or holding the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). This means that under the policy, Canadian- and internationally-trained physicians who are certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada are no longer required to challenge the MCCQE or hold the LMCC to register with CPSO. CPSO is proud to support Mikinakoos Children's Fund through a three-year staff engagement and giving commitment. Having the opportunity to visit Sachigo Lake First Nation and see the impact of this work firsthand was both inspiring and humbling. We’re grateful to the community for their warm welcome and to everyone who made this visit possible.
We recently had the opportunity to spend the day in Sachigo Lake First Nation alongside two of our partners from the @College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). We arrived with 150+ brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies along with dozens of lightly used laptops for the school, generously donated by CPSO. We also brought a bi-weekly shipment of food for the school lunch program and a bag of soaps and toiletries for every student, generously donated by LUSH Cosmetics. But the most meaningful part of the visit was the time spent in the community. We visited with community members, spoke with students, helped prepare lunch at the school and spent the day building connections with the people we work to support. Thank you to CPSO and LUSH Cosmetics for helping make this visit possible, and to North Star Air for chartering our flight and helping us get there. We’re grateful for the opportunity to see this work firsthand and to continue building strong, lasting relationships with the communities we serve. #Mikinakoos #FirstNationsKidsFirst #Reconciliation #Charity #Indigenous
