Packaging, lifting, lashing, regulatory requirements and specialist suppliers were coordinated around one operating plan. One complex road movement became the foundation for a wider international logistics programme 📈 The decisive step was rethinking the handling method before the cargo moved. For an initial shipment of oversized lithium-ion battery equipment from the UK to Germany, the proposed reefer and slip-sheet method added handling complexity. Following a technical feasibility review, the team recommended a flat-rack and crane solution. Packaging, lifting, lashing, specialist suppliers and onsite teams were then aligned around one operating plan. More than 10 hours of onsite supervision and two trackers supported the first movement. Once the method had been proven, it provided the basis for further shipments involving colleagues in the UK, Germany, Australia and Canada, with road, air and ocean transport coordinated across the wider programme. The lesson is practical: for complex battery cargo, early handling decisions can influence every stage that follows. #LithiumBattery #OOG #Logistics

💙 Supporting a cause close to our Dublin team’s hearts Röhlig Ireland voted to support The Alzheimer Society of Ireland as its charity for 2026. On Friday 16 October, Alan O'Brien, Managing Director of Röhlig Ireland, visited the charity’s facility in Blackrock, Dublin, where he met Joanne Williamson, Corporate Fundraising Manager. The visit offered an opportunity to see the scale of the facility and learn more about the services and support it provides. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland supports people living with dementia, their families and carers across the country, while advocating for their rights, needs and quality of life. This is a cause that means a great deal to our colleagues in Dublin. The proposed loading method looked workable on paper 🤔 A technical feasibility review identified a better approach for this oversized shipment. A lithium-ion battery manufacturer initially needed a road movement from the UK to Germany. Our feasibility review found that the proposed reefer and slip-sheet method would introduce avoidable handling complexity. Early alignment helps teams prepare for each stage of the journey with confidence, including: • Shipment and handling requirements • Documentation and operational responsibilities • Handover points between transport modes • Delivery requirements at destination Planning these details from the outset can reduce avoidable disruption and support a more controlled multimodal movement. The initial road movement was completed and unloaded successfully. More importantly, the planning created a practical handling method that could support the customer’s expanding requirements.
