The I Love U Guys Foundation is an organization created in 2006 by John-Michael and Ellen Keyes, the parents of Emily Keyes, who was killed in the 2006 Platte Canyon High School hostage crisis.
Background
[edit]On September 27, 2006, at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, Colorado, Duane Roger Morrison took seven female students hostage, including 16-year-old Emily Keyes, and sexually assaulted them. When Emily's father, John-Michael, received word of an incident at the high school, he texted her "R U OK?" using his cell phone. Emily replied, "I love u guys". John-Michael responded "Where are you?", but never received a response.
After law enforcement broke into the classroom where Emily and the other students were being held, Morrison fatally shot Emily once in the head before shooting and killing himself. The other hostages were recovered safely.
