Help me

[edit]

@Anna Roy Hi I am |Zulier , I found an article which don't have citations even single one. And I didn't found any secondary sources to validate and verify information which has been used to create article and article is in namespace. Instead of adding information on it's talk page can I tag it. And if not then I see tags in article then why other users add tags and I can't tag them. You can tag, I just don't think it's very useful, unless it presages for prompt action. If a new article in the encyclopedic space has been created (not as a draft) with no citations, and someone isn't currently and actively working on it, the article is usually is usually tagged for deletion (I would think). See WP:NOCITE. Articles have to be reviewed before they are accepted in the long term, and the reviewer would probably flag for deletion given the lack of citations. There are a lot of older WP articles in English that don't have citations still. The rules about adding citations were changed maybe ten years ago. The pressure for citations is much stronger now, but lots of the older articles, made closer to the beginning follow the guidelines set at the start and have not been revised. It's worth noting that WP:V says "Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires inline citations for any material challenged or likely to be challenged". You don't need an article to reference that London is the capital of the UK or that the earth goes around the sun. Often editors like to slap on a cite tag for things that nobody would ever realistically challenge. Yes, it's an imperfect system. A lot is left to the discretion of the editors and discussions can be had about the whys and wherefores. Does that help to answer the question? No doubt other editors might have different takes on your question. Anna (talk) 19:30, 18 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
