https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3351

Based on a collection made during the period 1999–2009, we record 27 aphid parasitoid species from Vietnam, of which 12 are new to the Vietnamese fauna (Aphidius autriquei Starý, 1985; Aphidius ervi Haliday, 1834; Aphidius urticae Haliday, 1834; Binodoxys basicurvus Shujauddin, 1973; Binodoxys centaureae (Haliday, 1833); Binodoxys communis (Gahan, 1926); Binodoxys greenideae Starý & van Harten, 1983; Binodoxys rubicola Shujauddin, 1973; Binodoxys shillongensis Starý, 1978; Ephedrus nacheri Quilis, 1934; Ephedrus plagiator (Nees, 1811); and Ephedrus trichosiphoniellae Takada, 1968), three species were previously recorded (Lysiphlebia mirzai Shujauddin, 1975, Lipolexis oregmae (Gahan, 1932), and Aphidius rapae (McIntosh, 1855)) and 12 species are new to science described by Tomanović & van Achterberg (Aphidius brevis sp. nov., Aphidius tonkinensis sp. nov., Binodoxys longipetiolatus sp. nov., Cristicaudus ninhbinhensis sp. nov., Ephedrus brevistigmus sp. nov., Ephedrus vietnamensis sp. nov., Lipolexis hirsutus sp. nov., Praon tonkinensis sp. nov., Toxares brevistigmus sp. nov., Toxares flavus sp. nov., Trioxys breviflagellaris sp. nov., and Trioxys glabrirostris sp. nov.). We diagnose the newly described species, discuss their relationships with known congeners, and examine the diagnostic morphological characters used. All recorded aphid parasitoid species represent a natural resource, and some are already used as biocontrol agents (Aphidius ervi Haliday, 1834; Aphidius rapae (McIntosh, 1855); Aphidius urticae Haliday, 1834; Binodoxys communis (Gahan, 1926); Ephedrus plagiator (Nees, 1811); and Lipolexis oregmae (Gahan, 1932)).
Željko Tomanović, Maja Lazarević, Vladimir Žikić, Khuat Dang Long, Cornelis van Achterberg

https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3349

The scorpionfly genus Panorpa Linnaeus, 1758 is confirmed paraphyletic, with East Asia as a major center of diversity. The Panorpa deceptor group previously comprised 39 species distributed in China, Japan, and Thailand; however, many morphological characters traditionally used are non-diagnostic, and species diversity within the group has been underestimated. Here, I provide a checklist, key to species, and a distribution map for this group, and discuss its evolutionary and biogeographical implications. Seven species are described as new: P. acharya sp. nov., P. dujingzhei sp. nov., P. huboliao sp. nov., P. lahu sp. nov., P. temperata sp. nov., P. yixini sp. nov., and P. zhengxinyiae sp. nov. New material of P. auripennis Bicha, 2019 from China is also illustrated and discussed. This revision updates the species number for this group from 39 to 46, and provides a basis for future studies on the taxonomy and phylogeny of Panorpa.
Ji-Shen Wang

https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3348

This contribution is the first part of a two-part analysis of ostracod assemblages from shallow-water hydrothermal vents through geological time. To establish a robust taxonomic framework for this comparative investigation, we here revisit material from the southern and southwestern parts of New Caledonia, including the Prony Bay Hydrothermal Field, housed in the micropaleontology collections of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (Paris). This material comprises specimens published by Vespasian Apostolescu as well as bulk sediment samples collected by Pierre Laboute that have remained unexamined until now. This analysis documents the occurrence of 63 species, seven of which are recorded from New Caledonia for the first time. We describe six new species: Auradilus mediumiugum Forel sp. nov., Ponticocythereis impressionista Forel sp. nov., Callistocythere angelina Forel sp. nov., Loxoconcha charbonnieri Forel sp. nov., Loxoconcha venenosa Forel sp. nov., and Gambiella? toxica Forel & Bergue sp. nov., the latter two currently known only from the Prony Bay Hydrothermal Field. We emend three species originally described at the end of the 19th century, whose illustrations and descriptions left certain taxonomic ambiguities: Adencythere torticollis (Brady, 1890) emend., Loxoconchella honoluliensis (Brady, 1880) emend. (type species of the genus), and Lankacythere scotti (Brady, 1890) emend.
Marie-Béatrice Forel, Cristianini Trescastro Bergue, Tristan Pradels

https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3346

Asparagus L. sect. Myrsiphyllum (Willd.) Baker ex H.Perrier, which includes the members of the genus with phylloclades, is defined and revised for Madagascar and the Comoro Islands based primarily on morphological evidence. This builds on earlier treatments of the group, taking into account the wealth of new material now available. In this study, nine species are recognised, including five species and two varieties that are new to science: A. andriamihajarivoi M.Pignal & Phillipson sp. nov., A. bambusiformis M.Pignal & Phillipson sp. nov., A. laticladus M.Pignal & Phillipson sp. nov., A. messmerae M.Pignal & Phillipson sp. nov., A. simulans Baker var. falcicladus M.Pignal & Phillipson var. nov., A. simulans var. recticladus M.Pignal & Phillipson var. nov., and A. tsaratananensis M.Pignal & Phillipson sp. nov. Asparagus madagascariensis Baker is also reinstated, having previously been treated as a synonym of A. simulans by Perrier de la Bâthie. An identification key is provided for the currently recognised species along with a key to the varieties of A. simulans. A provisional IUCN Red List assessment is proposed for each taxon.
Marc Pignal, Porter P. Lowry II, Peter B. Phillipson

https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3345

Three specimens of Dipluran Japygidae, collected from two widely separated caves – one in the western Mediterranean and the other in Southeast Asia – have revealed the existence of an impressive, distinctive and unusual cercal amour pattern, unlike that of other Japygidae, characterized by two to three pairs of subsymmetrically arranged teeth. Consequently, two taxa have been described: a new species, Troglojapyx angelginesi Sendra sp. nov., from l’Avenc des Pouàs in Ibiza, Balearic Islands, related to the previously monotypic genus Troglojapyx, known from a cave in mainland Greece; and a new genus and species, Laolaojapyx chloeae Sendra & Lips gen. et sp. nov., from Tham Van Ngo Cave in Laos. However, the phylogenetic significance of cercal morphology appears limited, as suggested by the wide geographic distribution of soil- and cave-adapted japygids. The two new species are highly specialized cave dwellers, exhibiting clear subterranean adaptations, including elongate bodies, slender appendages, and an impressive abundance of antennal placoid sensilla, reaching up to 72 in L. chloeae.
Alberto Sendra, Josiane Lips, Jesús Selfa, Guillem X. https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3344

The marine gastropod fauna off Namibia (SW Africa) has hardly been explored. The current study on species of the genus Gibberula Swainson, 1840 is part of an inventory of marine gastropods from Namibia. Four species are described as new, all endemic to Namibia: Gibberula oshishani sp. nov., G. evukule sp. nov., G. ehodhi sp. nov., and G. heyali sp. nov. One additional species was also known from South Africa: G. cf. bensoni (Reeve, 1865). None of the species known from Angola was found in Namibia. Apparently, the Kunene River delta forms a biogeographical dividing line for species of Gibberula (and many others).
Leon Hoffman, Mayday Haulofu, Mildred J. Johnson, Michael L. Zettler

https://europeanjournaloftaxonomy.eu/index.php/ejt/article/view/3340

A new species of the copepod lichomolgoid complex is described from a male specimen collected in a marine cave (Turtle Tomb) on Sipadan Island, Sabah, Malaysia. The new species is assigned to the family Rhynchomolgidae Humes & Stock, 1972 based primarily on the morphology of the antenna, mandible, maxilla, and endopods of swimming legs 1 and 3. The distinctive configuration of the mandible, male antennule, and third swimming leg supports the establishment of a new genus, Sipadanomolgus gen. nov., to accommodate the new species. Sipadanomolgus dissimilis gen. et sp. nov. is named in reference to its distinctive morphology, particularly the unique combination of antennular setation and swimming leg 3 armature, which distinguishes it from other genera of Rhynchomolgidae.
Chaichat Boonyanusith, Koraon Wongkamhaeng, bin Abdul Rahim Azman
