If you noticed the announcement from the World Economic Forum Cybercrime Atlas and Orange Cyberdefense, then you might be wondering what "Cosmos" is all about. Basically Cosmos is a framework that allows individual cybercrime processes to be understood within the broader, networked cybercrime ecosystem. It's a model, like a map, that we can use agree on what we're seeing and what we call it. We've provided Atlas with a bespoke visualization application. The tool allows users to navigate the cybercriminal ecosystem as an interactive knowledge graph. But Cosmos is much bigger than an “app”. It’s a collaborative effort to develop a formal, universal ontology of cybercrime that can be leveraged by researchers, law enforcement, institutions, journalists and private-sector experts. In this video I provide a short walkthrough of the app and the Cosmos project. This video is a just fly-over. We made a huge investment this year into this report on the state of cybersecurity in Africa, collecting, organising and analysing data over the last five years. It was an act of passion for me. As a South African I loved having the chance to be curious about my home continent, to read the stories, study the numbers - to really think about what we're seeing, and what we can deduce from that. With the support dozens of colleagues from the continent, as well as an amazing international team, I think we've produced a report that can make a real contribution to our collective understanding of cyber security on the continent. Like many sincere efforts at authentic research, the report raises as many questions as it answers, but I'm still proud of the effort and confident that it will have something to give to _anyone_ who reads it.
