From large multinational corporations to regional nonprofit organizations, open source software can be adopted, configured, and customized according to the needs of any company or organization.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why we\u2019re thrilled to announce our new <a href=\"https:\/\/socialimpact.github.com\/developers\/intro-to-open-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guide to open source for nonprofits and social sector organizations<\/a>!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"why-we-created-an-open-source-guide-for-the-social-sector\"><a class=\"heading-link\" href=\"#why-we-created-an-open-source-guide-for-the-social-sector\">Why we created an open source guide for the social sector<span class=\"heading-hash pl-2 text-italic text-bold\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>When organizations are looking to have a big impact with somewhat limited resources, open source can help by improving collaboration, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs. GitHub staff members developed and led the training as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/socialimpact.github.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GitHub Social Impact<\/a> Skills-Based Volunteering project.
