Intel would be preparing a Sapphire Rapids refresh to go against the new Threadripper
Aside from the familiar Intel Core desktop CPUs, the HEDT (high-end desktop) sector is another area where Intel and AMD are constantly battling to win over users with their superior performance. Recently, AMD announced a new series of Threadripper CPUs, and since Intel doesn't want AMD to steal its market share, it's reportedly already working on a rapid refresh of the Intel Xeon Scalable Sapphire Rapids generation.

The intention is very simple: whoever has the best services for very demanding clients would be left with large batches of contracts. That is why the announcement of the new AMD Threadripper would have caused, according to the ExtremeTech portal, Intel to do a quick refresh.
New Intel Xeon CPUs would be made to compete with new AMD Threadripper
AMD recently launched its Threadripper 7000 series chips for workstations and HEDTs. This is more than enough reason for Intel to release a new batch of 4th Generation Intel Xeon processors , which will feature improved I/O and lower TDPs.
According to a recent leak on Twitter, the new chips Intel has in development are an update to its " mainstream " CPUs and are being referred to as the W-2500 series. A spreadsheet listing all of Intel's upcoming HEDT CPUs has been leaked, indicating that the company will not be competing with AMD's 64-core, 128-thread Threadripper Pro CPUs.
This new Intel Xeon series will offer 26 cores, 52 threads, and a TDP of 250W, significantly lower than AMD's Threadripper 7000 series. However, Intel will provide 64 PCI Express Gen 5 lanes, more than the 48 lanes of the Threadripper 7000. The lower power consumption will also be a plus, given that electricity costs are a key consideration for large-scale operations. The updated CPUs will be socketed into the existing W790 platform.
