Dublin City Council Assistant Staff Officer Richie Shakespeare was recently invited to speak at the final conference of the EU-funded ENAIBLER project in Letterkenny. The project has supported regional and local authorities across Europe in advancing AI adoption and digital transformation, while identifying good practices and developing policy instruments to support implementation. During the conference, Richie shared insights from Dublin City Council’s AI journey to date and highlighted the work of the GenAI Lab. He also took part in a panel discussion alongside representatives from the LGMA and CeADAR Ireland, exploring how local authorities can harness AI to drive innovation and deliver better public services. Events such as ENAIBLER play an important role in helping local governments learn from one another, share practical experiences, and build the knowledge needed to adopt AI in a responsible and impactful way. #AI #DigitalTransformation #SmartDublin #ENAIBLER #Innovation #LocalGovernment #GenAI

These days we were busy as bees! 🐝 From the 16th to the 19th we received delegations from Poland 🇲🇨 , Portugal 🇵🇹 , Italy 🇮🇹 and Latvia 🇦🇹 . We showed them what Dublin has to offer for young people. The first day, we had inspiring presentations from the Gaisce - The President's Award, Comhairle na nÓg, @Inner Misfits and Dublin City Council. We had the opportunity to kayak in the river Liffey, visit Trinity College Dublin. 🛶 The next day we started at @Google Bolands Mill, had a debate about youth related topics and did some irish, polish, latvian and portuguese dancing! 💃 🕺 Finishing with our amazing Youth Advisory Panel giving a tour. A big shout out 🙌 To our amazing YAP members who helped us these days Conor, Alex, Calvi, Darina, Kris, Zoe, Gabriela, Jonathan and Evie 🙌 To our amazing speakers, @Amy Collins, @Shauna McIntyre, Karol Quinn, Grace D'Arcy 🙌 To @Christine Lyons , Francesca O'Rafferty, CONNECT admin team and Smart Dublin for their support to bring this alive! Thank you Aoife and Teresa for letting us use the space at Boland Mills. **The project is funded by the European Union under the CERV 2021–2027 Programme. We’re about to kick off Day 2 of the CIN Leadership Forum in London! Yesterday, city leaders explored what it takes to move AI from pilots into wider use – drawing on experiences from Dublin, Paris, Madrid and Prague, and examining how organisational change and public-private partnerships can help scale innovation. Today’s focus is on practical, sovereign AI for local government and the skills, governance and guardrails needed to put it to work. Insights from Westminster, Marseille and Birmingham will inform discussions, before we turn to priorities and proposed outputs for our working groups. Thank you to our host, Theo Blackwell MBE, Chief Digital Officer at the Greater London Authority, and to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for their warm hospitality at their London offices. #CINLondon #CityInnovationNetwork #CityInnovation #UrbanInnovation Pilar Gonzalez-Blanco Tiffany St James Christophe Hugon Tariq Khan David Monteau David Wilkins Sophie Lamblotte Martin Vavrek Naomi Hutchinson Jamie Cudden Nadim Bellallahom Mária Kostická Emili Rubió Lorenzo Matteo Cocco Meg Hennessy Colm Browning Tomáš Vácha Raj Mack Dr. Benjamin Seibel Marco Korf Sherelle Fairweather Jānis Lange Bob Bennett

Strengthening international collaboration in 6G and future communications! We’re delighted to announce a new partnership between CONNECT Centre at Trinity College Dublin and Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院), one of the world’s leading applied research organisations. Signed at the Taiwan 6G Summit by CONNECT Director Professor Dan Kilper and ITRI Vice President Pang-An Ting, the agreement opens up exciting opportunities for joint research, experimentation and innovation in 6G and advanced communications technologies. By bringing together Ireland’s research expertise and experimental testbeds with Taiwan’s world-leading technology and industrial research ecosystem, this collaboration aims to accelerate innovation and create new opportunities for researchers and industry in both countries. We look forward to building on this partnership and exploring what we can achieve together. Looking forward to spending time with MAK, Petr Suska, Theo Blackwell MBE, Jamie Cudden and more of our European City Innovation Network members next week!
London Calling next week! 🇬🇧 Looking forward to joining city leaders from across Europe for the City Innovation Network Leadership Forum in London, 7–8 October. This will be the 62nd in-person meeting for city leaders convened by the Cities Today Institute and the 4th City Innovation Network Leadership Forum — bringing together 20+ cities from 11 countries for two days of candid, closed-door discussions. Hosted by Theo Blackwell MBE, we’ll be exploring some of the questions that matter most as cities move from experimenting with AI to deploying it at scale: • How do we scale AI while delivering tangible public value? • How can cities overcome organisational barriers to innovation? • What are the 3Ps needed to drive innovation? • How will AI reshape and enable the public-sector workforce? Great to have Boston Consulting Group (BCG) , Google, Silicon Highway Ltd, NVIDIA, Milestone Systems and Blitz AI joining the conversation alongside our city leaders. I’m particularly looking forward to the peer-to-peer discussions — hearing what cities are actually implementing, where the challenges remain, and where collaboration with industry can accelerate progress. See you in London! #CINLondon #CityInnovation #AI #GovTech #SmartCities #PublicSectorInnovation #DigitalTransformation #UrbanInnovation #ArtificialIntelligence #FutureOfCities

📡 We're delighted to see the publication of The Connective Detective Report, showcasing how young people can play an active role in shaping smarter, more connected communities. It's inspiring to see primary school students not only learning about connectivity but also building practical solutions through hands-on activities and smart city sensors. Congratulations to all involved in this fantastic initiative and to the students who shared their experiences and expertise. 👏 #SmartCities #STEM #Innovation #DigitalSkills
✨ 📢 The Connective Detective Report 📢 ✨ is now published! ➡️ Free download here: https://lnkd.in/dmV_HR_P Today, we organised a workshop at the Trinity Long Room Hub as part of 'Researchers Week' to take some time to reflect and look back, to mark the publication of our report ‘The Connective Detective’. After three years of running this programme, we have incorporated all our thoughts, findings and insights into this report to demonstrate how primary school students can be involved in the smart city discourse and how knowledge about connectivity can be passed on. During today’s workshop, three fantastic former participants from Marist Primary School shared their knowledge and experiences with those present, before teaching new students how to build smart city sensors such as light sensors 💡 , motion sensors 👋 and temperature sensors 🌡️ . Thank you to everyone who was and is part of this journey - we are already very excited for what's next!
