📊 How can data help us understand reality and make better decisions? 🤝 For European Statistics Day, our Francesca Ieva, Associate Head of the Health Data Science Research Centre and Professor of Statistics at Politecnico di Milano, reflects on the people and perspectives needed to make sense of data. 🔬 Representing reality through data is complex. It requires different domains and forms of knowledge to come together, finding the right balance between methods, context and interpretation. Because turning data into responsible and effective decisions is always a joint effort. #EuropeanStatisticsDay

Chi siamo

🦠 Are we really individuals, or communities made of many forms of life? At #FocusLive2026, our researchers Fabio Marcuccio, Linda Masante and Giulia Peveri will guide visitors through “Io contengo moltitudini”, an interactive Human Technopole lab exploring how cells and microbes work together to build the complexity of life. 📅 23–25 October 2026 at the Experience Area, Cavallerizze Pavilion, Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, Milan. Come and try the lab yourself 👉 https://live.focus.it/

🔬 How do cancers become resistant to treatment? Answering this question takes expertise from different disciplines. On #AdaLovelaceDay, the international celebration of women in science, technology, engineering and maths, we spotlight our Francesca Perrone, Postdoc in the Computational Biology Research Centre, and the collaborative research she contributes to at Human Technopole. 🧬 In this video, Francesca explains how HT’s Flagship Research Programmes bring together computational models and experimental molecular biology to understand how tumours evolve and resist treatment. The aim is to anticipate these mechanisms and help inform more targeted, effective therapies.

💡 The CITT INTERREG Training Programme kicks off today with its first session, focusing on the fundamentals of intellectual property and how to protect and valorise research results with Lorenzo ROSSI from Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. Join us online today from 12:00 to 14:00 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehGE8-8R 🎓 The programme is part of the Interreg KTTH-Alps project, bringing together partners across Italy and Switzerland to strengthen knowledge and technology transfer.
🌌 Some of the Universe’s most elusive particles have opened up a new way to observe it. 🏅 The 2026 #NobelPrize in Physics has been awarded to Francis Halzen for his decisive contributions to the IceCube experiment and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos from the cosmos. 🔭 Our Andrea Sottoriva, Head of Computational Biology Research Centre - Biophysical Modelling and Simulation, reflects on how this achievement expanded the tools available to astronomy, combining large-scale scientific infrastructure, advanced technologies and data analysis. At Human Technopole, this interplay between technology, complex data and large-scale research is central to how we investigate biological systems and human health. The Nobel Prize

💡 What if light could become a switch for cells? 🏅 The 2026 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel for discoveries that led to optogenetics, making it possible to control cellular activity using light with remarkable spatial and temporal precision. 🧠 Our Ivano Legnini, Research Group Leader in the Genomics Research Centre, reflects on how these tools are used today, including at Human Technopole, where optogenetic approaches help control gene expression in cells and organoids and investigate processes such as development. ✨ One community, one shared identity, one new name: Technopolers! 🧩 A few months ago, we asked our community to propose and choose a name for the people who make Human Technopole what it is. The result was perhaps hiding in plain sight. 🤝 This name strengthens our shared identity and sense of belonging, bringing together people across research, facilities, administration, scientific operations and support roles as one Human Technopole community. 💡 Different roles, expertise and perspectives, connected by the same commitment to HT and to shaping the future of human health together.

👏 Congratulations to our Laura Bonanomi, PhD Student in the Erdmann Group, whose image was among the six winners of the #TALES2026 scientific image contest. 🔍 Using expansion microscopy, Laura captured fibroblasts and their cytoskeleton in striking detail. Her research explores how to achieve super-resolution while preserving signal intensity. 🧠 Congratulations also to our Emanuele Capra, PhD Student in the Kalebic Group, who was among the TALES finalists.
