Kabir Duggal, Ph.D., SJD’s Post

We are celebrating 20 years of the JURIS Legal Information "Investment Arbitration Conference"! 🎉 🌟 Join us in Washington, D.C. for two days of celebration on November 12 and 13 as we mark two decades of bringing together leading voices in investment arbitration and providing opportunities to build advocacy for rising superstars. 🎤 Our keynote speaker is the formidable Gary Born. 🔥 This year’s conference will continue our tradition: two rising superstar younger lawyers will take the stage to debate positions they have been asked to defend on cutting-edge questions in investment arbitration. This will then be debated by leading commentators from around the world. We cannot wait to see these arguments unfold! 🌟 Over the coming days, we will introduce you to the 12 incredible authors joining us for this special 20th anniversary conference. We share a little bit about these superstars, along with a formal and more relaxed photo. 🎤 Next up: Tülay Çalışkan Bayraktar. ⚖️ Tülay will argue FALSE on the following proposition: “The legitimacy crisis in investment treaty law can only be resolved through the establishment of a consolidated international court and appellate body rostered exclusively by host States.” She will debate Bastien Tirel (check out his post here: https://lnkd.in/p/g8TkAYz7) 🏛️ Fav Hobby: Tülay loves visiting museums, ancient sites, old churches and mosques. She has always been drawn to places where history is still visible, which may have something to do with being from Istanbul. 🚛 Fun fact: Tülay has a 1.5-year-old son, thanks to whom she is currently acquiring an unexpectedly detailed knowledge of trucks and construction vehicles! 🔥 What is Tülay most looking forward to at this year’s Juris Conference? The opportunity to share a panel and exchange ideas with some of the thought leaders in international investment law — and to have that discussion in Washington, D.C., a particularly fitting setting for a conversation about the intersection of international law, States and investment policy. 🎉 We are very much looking forward to having Tülay with us for what promises to be a memorable two days of debate, discussion, and celebration! 📅 November 12–13, 2026 | Washington, D.C. 🎟️ Register here: https://lnkd.in/gnCb9VQp 🎉 Twenty years.
