🌍 From learning about inclusion to making a difference at their universities! Students from eight NEOLAiA | European University Alliance universities came together at Bielefeld University for NEOmentor Week, preparing to take on a new role: supporting fellow students and helping build more inclusive university communities. Throughout the week, participants explored: ♿ Accessibility and removing barriers to participation 🤝 Mentoring and reverse mentoring 💬 Diversity, communication and conflict resolution 💜 Student health and well-being But NEOmentor Week was about more than training. Through workshops, shared experiences and intercultural activities, students built connections and exchanged perspectives on inclusion across Europe. 🎓 What's next? Participants will return to their home universities and serve as mentors for one year, putting their new skills into practice and supporting their peers. 🌍 Take your research beyond borders with NEOLAiA | European University Alliance! Are you a postdoctoral or senior researcher looking to expand your international network, exchange knowledge and develop new research collaborations? 🔬 Applications are open for the NEOLAiA Visiting Researcher Programme (NVR) 2026! The programme offers researchers from NEOLAiA partner universities the opportunity to undertake research stays of 3 to 9 months at another institution within the Alliance. Through the programme, researchers can: 🔹 Develop interdisciplinary and international research collaborations 🔹 Connect with researchers across NEOLAiA's nine partner universities 🔹 Exchange expertise and explore new research perspectives 🔹 Strengthen links between research, innovation and society 📅 Mobility period: 4 January – 15 October 2027 ⏰ Application deadline: 28 October 2026 👤 Who can apply? 🥐 🌍 How can food help us understand identity, displacement and belonging? The NEOLAiA Summer School 2027: “Flavours of Belonging: Emotions, Identities and Food Heritage”, hosted by the Université de Tours, will explore these questions through an interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Humanities approach. Delivered as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), it combines online learning from February 2027 with compulsory on-site participation in Tours, France, from 7 to 18 June 2027. 🌍 How can international mobility contribute to the classroom – and to the person supporting it? For Nissrine Lamdardar, a final-year MA student in English Studies at the Universidad de Jaén, a three-month stay at Bielefeld University offered practical teaching experience and a new perspective on international collaboration. 🎓 Through the NEOLAiA | European University Alliance Language Assistant Exchange Programme (LAEP), she supported English-as-a-Medium-of-Instruction (EMI) courses by collaborating with lecturers, designing classroom activities and helping students engage confidently with course content in English. 🤝 The experience strengthened her ability to adapt activities to diverse classrooms, encouraged intercultural exchange and confirmed her ambition to pursue further international opportunities. 💬 As Nissrine reflects: “International collaboration is one of the most valuable aspects of higher education.” 🔗 Read her full interview: https://lnkd.in/dWb46Mn8 #NEOLAiA #NEOLAiAExperiences #InternationalMobility #HigherEducation #Plurilingualism

💼 Connecting students, employers and opportunities at the Universidad de Jaén Careers Fair On 6 October, NEOLAiA | European University Alliance joined the UJA 2026 Careers Fair at the University of Jaén, bringing Alliance opportunities closer to students and participating companies. Visitors had the chance to discover how NEOLAiA can support their professional and international development through: 🌍 Work placement opportunities 📚 Courses across the Alliance 🤝 The forthcoming job shadowing programme The fair also provided an opportunity to meet with several NEOLAiA partners in the Jaén region, including the Provincial Council of Jaén, Fundación INNOVASUR and Macrosad, strengthening connections between the university, businesses and the wider regional community. NEOLAiA was represented by Alliance Coordinator Beatriz Valverde and members of the NEOLAiA-UJA team.
