Spaceward Ho! is a strategy game of awesome scope, casting you as the leader of a spacefaring race. Your goal is to explore and to colonize the galaxy. Of course, you are not alone. As you discover new worlds to colonize and terraform or mine, you'll find aliens bent on there own galactic conquest opposing your expandning empure. Ally with them, or fight them using ships built with your latest technological advances. And if you user your resources (both limited and renewable) cleverly, you'll conquer the galaxy!





Works on any Macintosh with 1MB of memory running System 6.0.5 or greater

• Play against up to 20 computer opponents, or against friends on an AppleTalk network

• Every game is unique: choose type of galaxy, number of stars, and artificial intelligence level

• Research new technologies (weapons, shields, miniaturization, engines, and radical) to build custom spaceships

• Runs in color on color Macintoshes

Until sometime after 2016, version 5 (Carbonised) could be purchased on the Delta Tao website. However the registration service has been down for years, preventing unlocks. And the payment page has been down as well.

New features in Ho 5 include:

Smarter AI
Battles between 3 or more players
Grouping multiple ship types into a single fleet
Special "battle options", eg: letting a colony arrive just after the battle is done
Easier movement of ships, with each ship represented as a dot on the map

Anyone know how you change your username in Spaceward Ho 5? It's always set to Peter by default for me, and I can't spot any option anywhere to change the name to something else.

Hi, change the filetype to dImg (e.g. using ResEdit's Get File / Folder info from the File menu), then it should mount. At least it did on my machine. Good luck!

I've tried to mount the Spaceward_Ho_3.0_Color.img every which way I can (DropDisk, Disk Copy v6,3.2, Virtual CD/DVD but it just won't. Is it something to do with the .zip auto extracting as I download on macOS 13.6.4?

Didn't color graphics only come with Ho! 2.x ? The GdM version appears to be French too, at least according to the screenshots? (apart from only being a demo)

ZFT, the 1.2 version is a demo that doesn't want to say its name. It was provided on Univers Mac's floppy disk back in 1992. Color Graphics are missing and the game only allows 1 human player vs computer.

Does anyone have the original 1.x release of Spaceward Ho! for the Mac and could upload it? And / or possibly the 1.1.2 update?

I found out spaceward Ho! is at apple app store at $4.99 but this version 1.2.9 is 64 bit and requires iOS 8.0 or later and compatible with iphone , ipad and ipod touch. It require MacOS 11 and m1 mac.

I cracked version 5.0.5 several years ago. I can complete games and nothing seems locked. (Some features unlock as you earn experience, but if I edit my progress file to claim I have millions of points, all features work.) It runs on both OS 9 and X, in a wide range of emulators (SheepShaver, VMWare + Rosetta, qemu, PearPC.

Is it acceptable to upload cracked versions?
