This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirements are listed here.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

  • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
  • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
  • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.
  • All processed requests are automatically archived after 24 hours of no activity. Use {{PinSRP}} on a request section to prevent it from being archived, or {{ArchiveNowSRP}} to archive a request section as soon as possible.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

2. Fill in the values:

  • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
  • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case this is for multiple users, leave this field blank and give a list of these users in your remarks.
  • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

This will allow me to continue the maintenance work I have been doing over the past three months including; guarding the pages against vandalism, deletting spam articles and protecting pages and templates. @Rachmat04 it has clearly been announced somewhere (offwiki?), otherwise voters wouldn't have found it, but there should still be a public announcement to make sure no community members are excluded from voting. Yes, perhaps there is an off-wiki announcement for this. The said user, however, has posted the announcement in the village pump recently: Wikikamus:Būbu'a lēmbo'a#Admin Wikikamus bahasa Hulontalo Agustus 2026. I hope that suffice for now. I offer myself to continue helping on maintaining this project, and open for my community to revive it after this. I hope I can be granted for adminship for lifetime, or at least for 3 year, since the existing administrator is not active much and the community are not really active to make any discussion yet. Hello. I would like to request interface administrator rights on Vietnamese wikivoyage now that the voting process has been completed. I am currently an administrator on vi.wikivoyage, serving a three-month term. I would like to request interface administrator rights so that I can work on technical pages related to the interface, particularly CSS and JavaScript, as well as help maintain and improve the project’s interface. Regarding two points that I believe you may check: I have enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) on my account, and I am also familiar with JavaScript, CSS, and JSON, I am also currently an administrator and interface administrator on vi.Wikiquote. @SHB: Excuse me, but in the local discussion, there's my comment in there asking details why they need this rights, they give me a list of gadgets and I resolved their request in time (which is also their IA request reason). However, they did not provide any other maintenance schedule. The discussion there should have been no consensus because there was no support or opposition (For wikis with few active users, it is OK to have no comments does not apply here since there's already my comments). After being granted rights, they also unilaterally creating a gadget that I already opposite to create in the local discussion [1]. So, I'm not sure if this grant decision is an error? @SHB That user did not vote against it either. The discussion lasted seven days and has concluded, with the community approving it. On Monday, I opened a discussion about the Welcome gadget at Discussion about the Welcome gadget: MediaWiki:Gadget-UserMessages.js. It is just a simple welcome gadget; anyone who wants to use it can enable it. I don’t think it has any adverse impact on the community. Làm Việc Thiện (talk) 08:58, 18 October 2026 (UTC)reply

The local discussion clearly showed that no one has approval beyond my comment, so it cannot be called "the community approving it". Furthermore, the reason you provided for your request on the nomination page was addressed that very same day. About the gadget, I raised an objection to its creation in the nomination page, yet you still proceeded to create it unilaterally. You only start the discussion after I brought it up here and asking the same question why I object it that I already answered, which demonstrates that there was never any consensus authorizing you to create that gadget. @Nvdtn19 For a small wiki, according to Steward requests/Permissions/Minimum voting requirements, a discussion with no opposing votes will be considered approved. I have opened a discussion about this gadget, which is optional and does not affect anyone unless they choose to enable it. If you don’t like it, you can simply choose not to enable it. I requested the permissions from the stewards in accordance with the local policies and discussion. There was no wrongdoing on my part; this was simply a misunderstanding regarding the addition of the new Welcome gadget. I have opened a discussion about this matter. Bureaucrat access

  • In principle, requests for temporary bureaucrat access are not granted.
  • A small project does not need bureaucrats. Currently whether a promotion is valid or not is decided by stewards. See here for a guideline.
  • Since 2026, all bureaucrats are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.

CheckUser access

  • To request CheckUser information, see Steward requests/Checkuser. This is the place to request CheckUser access.
  • One-time CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by Stewards or when the mandate of the CUs has an expiry date specified in local policies.
  • Since 2026, all CheckUsers are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.

Oversight access

  • To request to have content oversighted, ask for a steward in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect and contact a steward privately. This section is for requesting access to the Oversight tool.
  • For contact details about oversighters across the wikis, refer to this page.
  • Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and temporary status is only used by Stewards .
  • Since 2026, all oversighters are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.
  • When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list.

Miscellaneous requests

Requests for permissions that don't fit in other sections belong here. Importer rights can be granted on most wikis by stewards only. Please gain local community consensus before posting a new section here.

  • SRB — Local or global bot status
  • SRGP — Global permissions

Removal of access

  • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
  • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.

Formal reason for the request is no sysop actions since April 2026 (the policy on cswiki is 6 months of inactivity). Normally, I wouldn't be reporting an admin just for not performing their sysop tasks for 6 months, but the user has barely had any activity since December 2025, which is nearly a year by now. I tried contacting him multiple times, but he hasn't responded to me since July 2026 and I am now unable to reach out to him.
