  • Rewa has been part of Maranga Fanau (‘Rise up, family’) for some time now – a space in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland where fresh food, clothing, job support, and Orange Sky’s static Laundry Pod come together to support friends and whānau in need. But for Rewa, the impact of Orange Sky extends beyond laundry. This place feels like home. It’s where her daughter, Jazmin, works on the job support team. It’s where Rewa helps with loads of laundry. It’s where kōrero flows and laughter is easy. “We are all family here, at the end of the day,” she says with a smile. “I just help everybody else out, but I don't mind. As long as I go home happy - and I am. I'm always happy when I leave from here. I appreciate everything.” The lasting impact of Orange Sky for Rewa is the community she has become part of. 🧡 ☀️

    • An individual is wearing a race bib that reads "23355" and a shirt supporting Orange Sky in a fun run event. The text overlay says, "Run for a Cause. Have fun and support those doing it tough!" There are other participants and trees in the background.
  • Lucy brings a spark to her regular shift in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland - best known for her laugh, her listening ear and the way she helps people feel at ease. When asked what keeps her coming back each week, she simply replied: "It's not about me, it's about them." She shared four words that guide her every shift: "Whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, kotahitanga - kotahi te aroha" Relationships. Care. Unity. Solidarity through love. That's why Lucy steps out week after week with Orange Sky, supporting Tāmaki Makaurau friends and whānau doing it tough through free laundry, warm showers and genuine conversation. Last week, our network and business partners hit the green at Howick Golf Club in Auckland for our Charity Golf Day in support of Orange Sky Aotearoa. Between the golf day and our recent Scale Up conference, we raised just shy of $15,000 to help Orange Sky put a new van on the road. This vehicle will expand their reach across regional communities, delivering essential support directly to people doing it tough. A massive thank you to our Platinum business partners, AIA NZ, Avanti Finance, FMT - First Mortgage Trust, Kiwibank and Prospa, and to everyone from across our network who joined us on the course, chipped in and helped make it happen. 🧡💙 Nicole Ferguson | Michelle Kinilau | Ryan Amoore | Amelia Gini | Dan Crawford | Nicole Scott | Alexandra Wornes #loanmarketnz #orangeskyaotearoa #orangesky #charitygolfday #communitysupport #givingback #fundraiser

  • This World Homeless Day, Orange Sky stands alongside our community to acknowledge everyone navigating hardship across the motu. 🧡 We’re also proud to celebrate a major milestone of our own: 8 years of Orange Sky in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland! Hardship is about so much more than financial strain—it’s the heavy isolation that comes with it. While free laundry and warm showers ease immediate pressure, it’s the consistent, judgment-free kōrero on the chairs that breaks isolation and builds trust. Because trust isn’t built in a day—it’s built shift by shift. Over 8 years in Auckland, together we’ve delivered: 🧺 26,400 Loads of laundry washed 🚿 15,150 Hot showers provided 💬 32,200 Hours of genuine kōrero Orange Sky started with one hybrid van in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 8 years ago, and today it now includes a hybrid van, 2 laundry pods and 2 internal laundries. 🌟 A massive ngā mihi nui to the tūao (volunteers), service partners, and supporters who make this mahi possible. Come say hi to our team at the LifeWise World Homeless Day event at St Patrick's Square today as we mark eight years of showing up for the community. Donate here 👉 https://bit.ly/4j4gq9S

  • Seven weeks ago, we were deeply saddened to share that our van Whaea Debz had been stolen from our Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland base. Thanks to the swift work of the New Zealand Police, our van was safely recovered just days later, however had significant damage that required repair. Since then, your generous support has allowed our workshop team to restore Whaea Debz to get back out on shift supporting friends and whānau in need. Here’s a little look at the mahi from tūao (volunteers) on our pop-up shifts and repairs in the workshop in recent weeks! 🛠️ We are pleased to share that Whaea Debz is now back in action. 🧡✨ To find your nearest shift, visit: https://bit.ly/4jFl0LT Alsco Uniforms® NZ

  • Vanessa knows firsthand how isolating it can be to navigate homelessness. Having experienced domestic violence she kept her situation hidden from friends and family. "I didn't really want anybody to know what I was going through, so rather than seek out services or friends to help and stuff like that, I just lived in my car," Vanessa shared. Today, she’s a tūao (volunteer) with Orange Sky Aotearoa in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, pulling up a chair for kōrero to support friends and whānau doing it tough. In Aotearoa, 44% of us experience loneliness each month. An Orange Sky shift offers a welcoming and safe space for free laundry, hot showers, and judgement-free, genuine kōrero. Trust isn't built in a day. It’s built shift by shift. 🧡 Help provide connection for someone in need: https://bit.ly/4dbRwBq

  • Whaea Debz rolled into her first shift at Onehunga on Tuesday after six weeks off the road and delivered nine loads of laundry! 🚐🧡 Our hearts sank when our Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland van was stolen from our base in August. Thanks to the quick work of the New Zealand Police, it was recovered just days later. Our workshop team got straight to mahi repairing the damage. Through your incredible generosity, patience, and support, Whaea Debz has now been fully restored and is officially back to support friends and whānau doing it tough in the community. We are so grateful to everyone who shared our posts, donated, tuned into the interview on TVNZ Breakfast and helped keep our community connected while Whaea Debz was out of action. Seeing those chairs back out and the hot water running was the best feeling! 🛠️✨ A huge ngā mihi nui to the tūao (volunteers) who supported the pop-up shifts across the city and Alsco Uniforms® NZ for supplying us with laundry bags. • “I feel so strongly that everyone deserves dignity and respect, ideally a roof over their heads.” 🧡 September is Wills Month - a time to secure your family’s future and support the kaupapa close to your heart. When Orange Sky supporters Margaret and her husband started thinking about leaving a bequest, it sparked a deep reflection on what mattered most to them. "Orange Sky’s efforts to provide the homeless with showers and clean clothes as well as a listening ear and a cuppa inspires me," she shares. "This charity gives me, an ordinary person, a way to contribute through donations. Recently I decided to go a little further and leave a bequest. This is my way of standing alongside people doing it tough so no one has to face hardship alone." A gift in your Will is a powerful, simple way to care for those closest to you while ensuring essential services keep running for future generations. Clean clothes, warm showers, and genuine connection - your legacy can make sure these simple acts of human dignity never stop. Look after whānau first. Leave 1% to build a kinder Aotearoa. 🌿✨ To explore leaving a gift in your Will, visit https://bit.ly/3UJpIhg

  • Our awesome friends at New Zealand Bed Company hosted a birthday party with a purpose at their Mt Wellington store, choosing to mark their milestone by raising funds for Orange Sky Aotearoa! Our National Coordinator, Emah popped in to join the festivities, complete with refreshments and a draw to win a single mattress for anyone who donated. Having their team center their big day around helping others made the occasion truly special. Every dollar raised helps keep our washing machines spinning, the hot showers running, and non-judgmental kōrero (conversation) flowing for friends and whānau doing it tough across the motu. A massive ngā mihi nui to the New Zealand Bed Company team for your incredible generosity, 40 years of service, and for standing alongside us to uplift our local community! 🌿✨
