People across the Americas want their money to move fast. How can cross-border payments keep pace? Our new Interoperability Index with Juniper Research draws on 6,763 survey responses and ranks 50 countries. Here are a few findings from the Americas: 📊 Only three of the eight Americas markets (the US, Canada and Brazil) make the global top 25. ⌛ In Brazil, 42% of people wait two days or more for a cross-border payment. Globally, it's 27%. 📱 61% of 18-24-year-olds in Brazil opened a digital bank account as their first formal account. 🔍 51% of US senders aren't always shown the final amount upfront, compared with 41% globally. ⚡ In the US and Brazil, speed beats price: quick transfers rank ahead of low fees. The findings show how local payment preferences and cross-border connectivity are shaping the region. 👉 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/g8xBiktY Chloé Mayenobe, Simon Nelson, Andrew Stewart, Shaheen Budhrani, Lucy Hafid, Mathieu X. What can a "network of networks" make possible for traditional financial organisations like JPMorgan? On the latest episode of On The Ground Podcast, Andrew Stewart, Chief Revenue Officer at Thunes, shares how an interconnection layer can help banks connect to a broader range of payment methods across markets, supporting remittances, B2B payments and payouts. By connecting across the systems, currencies and formats used in different markets, this helps banks extend payment services across local methods through a single integration. 🎧 Listen to the episode of On The Ground Podcast with Andrew Stewart: https://lnkd.in/gfZ7HJpB Chloé Mayenobe, Andrew Stewart, Simon Nelson, Elie Bertha, Mathieu X. Africa's money transfer market is expanding fast and attracting new players, as a new Forbes Afrique investigation into the future of the continent's money flows explores. 🌍 From mobile money in Kenya to instant bank transfers in Nigeria, Africa moves money in more ways than ever. As Forbes Afrique notes, mobile money grew country by country, operator by operator, and every extra step a cross-border payment takes adds time and cost. For an importer paying an overseas supplier, a week's wait can mean goods held back and lost flexibility. 🔗 Thunes' Direct Global Network shortens that journey: direct connections into banks, mobile wallets, cards and local payment systems, translating between currencies and formats so money moves between them. As our CRO Andrew Stewart told Forbes Afrique: "Many talk about interoperability. What we've managed to do is build it." That is what turns interoperability from an idea into connectivity that works for businesses in practice. From stablecoins to diaspora investment, the full report explores what comes next for Africa's money flows. 👉 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/ds-UESfV Chloé Mayenobe, Andrew Stewart, Simon Nelson, Ruwan De Soyza, Alex Young, Daniel Parreira, Dawei Wang, Izabela Morriss, Mathieu X.
