Former Supercars driver
Jamie Whincup
Triple Eight Race Engineering (Managing Director)
Jamie Whincup was born in Melbourne and won the J.C. Maddox Karting Trophy in 1993 and 1995. He progressed to Formula Ford, finishing third in the Australian championship in 2001 before winning the title with Sonic Motorsport in 2002.
He made his Supercars debut that same year as an endurance co-driver for Garry Rogers Motorsport at the Queensland 500. After stints with Garry Rogers Motorsport, Rod Nash Racing and Tasman Motorsport, he joined Triple Eight Race Engineering in 2006. With Triple Eight he won the championship seven times, in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017, and claimed the Bathurst 1000 in 2006, 2007 and 2008 with Craig Lowndes and in 2012 with Paul Dumbrell. He finished his career with 125 race wins.
Whincup stepped out of the full-time seat at the end of 2021 to make way for Broc Feeney and became Managing Director of Triple Eight, later co-driving with Feeney in the endurance races. In November 2025 he confirmed he would not co-drive in 2026 or 2027. He continues to lead Triple Eight, which switched to Ford for the 2026 season, and is Team Principal of Red Bull Ampol Racing.
