100% on-device

Every mile you drive is money back.

TaxMile turns your driving into a tax-ready mileage log — one tap to start, one tap to stop. No account, no cloud, no tracking. Your trips live on your iPhone and nowhere else.

TaxMile recording a drive: live mileage, speed and the deduction accruing in real time.
The difference

Most mileage apps are location companies.
This one isn't.

TaxMile has no servers, so there is nothing to breach, nothing to subpoena and nothing to sell. There is no sign-up because there is no account. Your mileage log is a file on your iPhone — the same way a paper logbook was a book in your glovebox.

No account, ever No analytics or crash reporting No third-party SDKs GPS only between Start and Stop Nothing sold, nothing shared
Features

Built for the person doing their own books.

Everything a mileage log needs at tax time, and nothing it doesn't.

One-tap tracking

Start Trip, drive, Stop Trip. Live distance, speed, elapsed time and the deduction adding up as you go. Lock your phone — it keeps recording.

Honest mileage

Weak fixes, GPS drift while parked and impossible jumps are discarded rather than averaged in. A deduction is only as defensible as the miles behind it.

US and Canada rates

IRS rates per mile, or CRA rates per kilometre with the 5,000 km tier handled automatically. Mid-year rate changes are applied by trip date.

Categories that fit your work

Business, Medical, Charity and Personal out of the box. Add your own with their own rate, colour and icon.

Tax-ready exports

A clean CSV your accountant can open anywhere, or a paginated PDF with per-category totals. Filter by date range, category, or a single client.

Rates that don't rewrite history

Each trip stores the rate it was logged at. Update January's rate for the new tax year and last year's totals never move.

How it works

Three taps between driving and deducting.

No setup wizard, no connecting accounts, no waiting for a sync. Install it and your next drive is already being logged.

Tap Start Trip

TaxMile asks for location once, then measures the drive. Put your phone down — it keeps going with the screen off.

Tap Stop, name the trip

Confirm the category, add where you went and why. Or add a past drive by hand if you forgot.

Export at tax time

Pick a date range, choose CSV or PDF, and send it wherever you like. The totals reconcile line by line.

Pricing

Tracking is free. Forever.

You only pay when TaxMile saves you real work — turning a year of driving into a document you can hand to an accountant.

Prices are shown in US dollars. The App Store charges in your own currency at Apple's price for your region — that is a fixed regional price, not a live exchange-rate conversion, so it will not be an exact translation of the figures above. Your App Store shows you the precise amount before you confirm anything, and the app itself always displays your local price.

A free trial becomes a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends; trial eligibility is set by Apple and is generally once per Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically on the same terms unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and are billed to your Apple Account. Manage or cancel any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. See the Terms of Use.

Questions

The things people ask.

If there's no cloud, what happens if I lose my phone?

Your trips are stored on the device, so losing the phone without a backup means losing the log. That's the honest trade for having no server. Export a CSV or PDF periodically and keep it with your other tax records — which is what you'd want at filing time anyway.

Does it drain my battery?

Only while a trip is recording. Between trips TaxMile holds no location subscription at all — it isn't waiting in the background for you to start driving. During a trip GPS runs continuously, including with the screen locked, and iOS shows its location indicator the whole time.

Can it detect drives automatically?

Not today. Automatic detection requires always-on location permission, which is exactly the thing this app is built to avoid. It's being considered as an opt-in for a future version, off by default.

Which rates does it use?

Pick United States for IRS rates per mile, or Canada — provinces or territories — for CRA rates per kilometre, including the higher rate for the first 5,000 km of the tax year.

Rates that change part-way through a year are handled by trip date, so back-entering a trip from January prices it at January's rate rather than today's. Every rate, threshold and changeover date is editable — you're never stuck waiting on an app update.

What will it cost in my currency?

The prices on this page are in US dollars. Apple sets a fixed price for every country's App Store rather than converting at checkout, so your local price won't be an exact translation — it may be a little more or less once Apple's regional pricing and any local tax are applied.

You'll always see the exact amount in your own currency on the App Store confirmation screen, and inside the app before you subscribe. Nothing is charged until you confirm it.

Is this tax advice?

No. TaxMile is a mileage log — it records how far you drove and multiplies it by a rate you choose. Whether a trip is deductible, and how to claim it, is between you and a qualified tax professional.

Does the app work offline?

Entirely. Recording, editing and exporting all work with no connection. The single exception is drawing a saved route on a map, which fetches map tiles from Apple — and that can be turned off in Settings, in which case routes are drawn from your stored coordinates instead.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, and without subscribing: any individual trip can be exported as CSV or PDF, three per month on the free tier. Pro exports your whole filtered logbook at once. Files are handed to the iOS share sheet, so where they go is entirely your choice.
