The Town of Arcadia is proud to announce that the Arcadia Fire Department has recently been upgraded to an ISO Class 4 rating, marking an important achievement in the department’s ongoing commitment to protecting the lives and property of our residents.
What Is an ISO Rating?
An ISO rating, officially known as a Public Protection Classification (PPC), is a rating system used to evaluate a community’s ability to provide fire protection. Ratings range from Class 1 to Class 10, with Class 1 representing the highest level of fire protection and Class 10 representing the lowest.
The evaluation considers several factors, including firefighter training and equipment, emergency communications, the community’s water supply for firefighting, and fire prevention efforts. The rating helps measure the effectiveness of a community’s overall fire protection services.
What Does This Mean for Arcadia Residents?
Achieving an ISO Class 4 rating reflects the progress made in strengthening the fire protection services available to our community. This achievement is important for several reasons:
