Earlier this week, Goals House touched down in Tokyo Together with Community Jameel and C40 Cities, we hosted our first Goals House Tokyo to mark the launch of the Japanese edition of the Climate Action Guide for Urban Planners. Governor Yuriko Koike opened the evening with a keynote, followed by a fireside conversation moderated by Uzma Sulaiman, Associate Director, Community Jameel with Murali Ram, Regional Director, East, Southeast Asia & Oceania, C40 Cities and Bridget Smyth, City Architect and Design Director at the City of Sydney. Against the Tokyo skyline, the conversation explored what climate action means for the future of our cities, from resilient infrastructure and cleaner energy to the neighbourhoods and communities we call home, before the evening closed with live jazz. A brilliant first gathering in Japan, and a reminder of the role cities and communities will play in shaping the next chapter of climate action.

From Berlin to Dublin, the Goals House community has been bringing different voices together around some of today’s most pressing challenges. At the World Health Summit, comedian, writer and actress Ivy Le joined Christoph Benn, Center for Global Health Diplomacy, and Save the Children International’s Inger Ashing for a conversation on turning proven maternal and child health solutions into action. In Dublin, Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland, joined the Gates Foundation, Google and Community Jameel to explore the role AI can play in building more resilient food systems. Our latest newsletter brings together highlights from conversations on maternal and child health and the future of AI and food systems, alongside the latest from Gates Foundation, Ecolab, The Nature Conservancy, AVEVA, The ONE Campaign's ONE Data, Blue Marine Foundation and Trane Technologies.

For Trane Technologies’ Jose La Loggia, Group President, EMEA, the opportunity is to think beyond powering data centres: improving energy efficiency, recovering waste heat and designing infrastructure that strengthens the communities around it.

In a new thought leadership piece, Ayesha Al Ateeqi, CEO of the The Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative argues that the greatest challenge in water innovation is not a lack of solutions, but a lack of pathways to scale. Building on conversations from World Water Week and the UN General Assembly, the piece explores why so many promising technologies fail to move beyond pilot stage, and what it will take to make water innovation investable, deployable and impactful. From capital and policy to partnerships and adoption, she makes the case that the future of water leadership will be defined not by breakthrough ideas alone, but by our ability to bring them into the real world.
