We are thrilled to share that Majestic has once again been named among the finalists in the Speciality Retailer of the Year category at the Retail Week Awards. This nomination is all down to the hard work, passion and market-leading knowledge of colleagues right across the business, from our incredible store and distribution centre teams, through to everyone in our Watford support centre. Day in, day out, our colleagues go above and beyond to help our customers discover new wines, beers and spirits they love, whether that’s through expert advice at our in-store tasting counters, multichannel convenience, or speedy delivery. Huge thanks to all of our colleagues and suppliers who make Majestic such a special place to shop and work. And, of course, to our incredible customers for continuing to choose Majestic as their go-to wine specialist. Congratulations to all of the 2027 finalists. We look forward to toasting the very best of British retail at the Retail Week Awards next February. #TogetherWeAreMajestic #ProudToBeMajestic #RWAwards27

If you’re out and about in Majestic today, you might spot some different faces sweeping the floors, talking to customers at the tasting counter or keeping the shelves stocked… That’s our Majestic Retail Board, getting stuck in while racing across London as part of our charity takeover month. They’re running, walking and hopping on buses in teams of two, competing against the clock to complete Small Majestic Acts in our shops across the capital – all to raise money for the Majestic Charitable Foundation. Each pair has a different route to tackle, a deadline to hit and a list of tasks to complete, designated by our store teams. The prize? A well-earned glass of wine at the finish line in Majestic Covent Garden, and bragging rights for the couple that wins the Race Across Majestic. So far, we’ve seen Trading Director Jason Gower picking litter in Shepherd’s Bush, Buying Director Matthew Fowkes sweeping leaves in Clapham, and our MD Elizabeth Newman handing out glasses (and selling bottles) at the tasting counter in Finchley. And there’s plenty more to come before the day is out! So if you've got a task for our board members, send it our way or leave your suggestions in the comments! And if you can, please sponsor their efforts via the JustGiving link below. All money raised will help us support our brilliant charity partners: The Brain Tumour Charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably and Child Bereavement UK. https://lnkd.in/eHgcJHYH Keith Blessley Sue Roberts Hannah Finnikin Charlotte Martin Chloe Gray Jane Masters MW Jodie Sweet

It’s been a busy few weeks for our on-trade specialist team at Majestic Commercial, hosting a string of regional trade events to bring the world of wine to our customers’ doorsteps. On Monday, our "Old World Roots, New World Innovation" tasting proved that when it comes to curation, quality will always win out over quantity. The event brought together seven of our world-class producers and dozens of hospitality professionals who dropped in to sample high quality wines and meet the teams behind them. The timing couldn't be better as we head into the Golden Quarter. As colder, darker nights set in, consumers want warmth and comfort in every glass, but still want to discover something new. By bridging the gap between familiar, food-friendly structures of the Old World and bold, expressive fruit of the New World, venues can craft wine lists that surprise and delight their guests throughout the festive season. This week’s event followed a stacked September of three exclusive supplier lunches. Champagne Boizel joined us to welcome customers at The Blue Stoops in London, Valiano and Torre Mora showcased their wines at The Artezzan in Chester, and Catena Zapata took centre stage at Glasgow’s Ardnamurchan Restaurant & Bar. Huge thanks to all of our suppliers and customers who joined us across the UK and helped make the events such a roaring success. Did you miss out this time around? you’re in luck. We are already planning our next round of Majestic Commercial regional events. Not even the morning rain could dampen the mood at our Autumn Press Tasting today. Majestic took over Vagabond Wines' bar in the heart of St Paul’s, creating our own cathedral of wine for the day. Our buying and PR teams showcased a blend of customer favourites and new and exclusive products joining our award-winning range, including bottles from Henri Ehrhart, Quinta do Crasto, Chaffey Bros. Wine Co. and an exciting collaboration with Vagabond’s Urban Winery. We also unveiled the latest additions to our fast-growing proposition of beers, spirits, low and no alcohol wines and snacks, including some excellent additions from Renais Gin | B Corp™, Isle of Raasay Distillery and ready-to-drink Kocktail serves in reusable glasses – perfect for entertaining over the Halloween and Christmas periods. Huge thanks to our colleagues for putting on another brilliant tasting, and to all of the journalists, influencers and suppliers who joined us and shared such amazing feedback on our new ranges. We can’t wait for our customers to try them too! #TogetherWeAreMajestic #ProudToBeMajestic #WineTasting #PressTasting #wine #beers #spirits

We’re raising a glass to all of our colleagues across the business today after Majestic completed a hat-trick at the prestigious IWC Industry Awards. Our teams brought home the Large Multiple Retailer of the Year Award for the third consecutive year, as the esteemed judging panel recognised our best-in-class, highly differentiated wine proposition, and the strategic progress we have made over the past 12 months. Majestic was also named as a finalist in three other categories, highlighting the strength of our online business; the expertise of our brilliant buying team; and the rapid growth of our Majestic Commercial on-trade business. And it was a golden night for our colleagues at Vagabond Wines too, after they were crowned Specialist of the Year for their role in championing and producing English wines. Massive thanks to all of our colleagues for their hard work, passion and dedication – our sustained success wouldn’t be possible without your incredible effort and expertise 🥂 #TogetherWeAreMajestic #ProudToBeMajestic #wine #retail #WineAwards #IWC2026InternationalInternationalInternational Wine Challenge

Did you know that when you buy a £10 bottle of wine, more than half of that money goes towards taxes, packaging and logistics – not the wine that’s in the bottle? That’s the reality expertly highlighted by Will Lyons in this piece for The Times and Sunday Times. Following recent changes to the alcohol duty system and the introduction of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, the “sweet spot” for a bottle of wine has shifted markedly. If you can spend between £15 and £20 on a bottle, that’s when you reach what Will describes as the “magical moment where you’re spending more on the wine in the bottle than tax”. At Majestic, that’s our sweet spot, too – and always has been. It’s a conversation our highly qualified colleagues are having almost every day with customers, telling the stories behind the family wineries from around the globe who are making some of the best quality wines you can buy. Once you have paid for the fixed costs of duty and shipping, every extra pound you spend goes directly towards purchasing a higher quality of wine from some of these world-class producers. In today’s tax landscape, trading up doesn't just buy you a better looking bottle or a more recognised brand; it tilts the value-for-money equation back in the customer’s favour. Not only does it mean you’ll discover new, higher quality wines, but you’ll also pay less tax as a proportion of your overall spend per bottle. I think we can all drink to that 🥂 Read Will’s article online here: https://lnkd.in/eMxbEuth

“I’m immensely proud of the way our colleagues have embraced the change we’re driving through the business with such passion and positivity. There’s been an awful lot going on behind the scenes to deliver some of the Group synergy benefits in areas like buying, supply chain, finance, people – and our teams have really gone above and beyond to make those things happen.” The words of Majestic Wine Group executive chairman and CEO, John Colley, speaking to Harpers Wine & Spirit Magazine today as part of their summer Q&A series. It sums up what has been another busy and successful start to the year for our Majestic teams and our colleagues across Enotria and Vagabond Wines, launching new shops and bars, winning brilliant on-trade accounts, and bringing dozens more world-class wines into our already award-winning ranges. And, as John discusses, there’s so much more for all of us to look forward to as we head towards our peak Christmas trading period. Cheers to all of our colleagues, customers and suppliers for your support, loyalty and partnership. Together we are Majestic 🥂 https://lnkd.in/eN4xHeB4

Thanks to Eloise Hill at Retail Gazette for getting the inside track on our £4m investment in stores this year from Majestic Retail Managing Director, Elizabeth Newman. Kickstarted by our latest store opening in Trowbridge last month, our plans for 2026/27 include the launch of at least four new locations and refurbishing plenty more. As Elizabeth says: “We talk a lot internally about stores being at the heart of everything in our strategic plan, and they genuinely are. It’s deep rooted in our Majestic DNA and always will be. “We know that human connection is incredibly important in wine, our customers want to hear from our colleagues about what’s new and exciting, and they buy into wines that have interesting stories and heritage behind them.” Read the full article online here: https://lnkd.in/efRxeYnp #TogetherWeAreMajestic #ProudToBeMajestic #NewStores #WineRetail

The Majestic family is shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Matthew Jukes. Matthew was one of the UK's most well-respected wine critics, and a real champion of our brilliant industry. His passion and enthusiasm for wine was infectious, and for years he was an insightful partner and critical friend to many of our colleagues across our Majestic, Enotria and Vagabond Wines businesses. The deepest thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Majestic Wine Group go to all of Matthew’s nearest and dearest at this very sad time.
