  • If you sell software, hardware or connected products into the EU, the Cyber Resilience Act may apply to you, wherever you're based. Our partner Dotan Hammer, head of global privacy in our Cybersecurity, Privacy and Copyright Group, recently discussed this with Globes. Dotan explained that the law is meant to strengthen the security of digital products sold in the EU, make sure authorities and users get timely warnings about serious risks, and limit the damage caused by vulnerabilities and security incidents. The key difference from the breach notifications you may be used to: the CRA doesn't depend on whether personal data is involved. If a vulnerability is being exploited in your product, or a serious security incident affects your product, the reporting obligations apply, whatever information the product handles. Dotan's takeaways on getting ready: ✅ Work out which of your products are sold in the EU, and update your vulnerability management and incident response procedures accordingly ✅ Set up a quick way to assess reports from customers, security researchers and others, and build a response team that includes cybersecurity, product, legal and communications Read the full article in Globes 👇 https://lnkd.in/dd4fZar5

  • Our September Cyber, Privacy & Copyright newsletter is now out, and this month's edition covers a lot of ground. In the EU, the Commission has proposed its KIDS Act, which sets a social media minimum age and safety-by-design requirements. California has taken a similar path with a sweeping package of laws on children's online safety. On enforcement, the Irish regulator has fined Google €403 million over its processing of location data, the EDPB has adopted a new five-step enforcement method, and EU Cyber Resilience Act incident reporting obligations have now taken effect. In the U.S., the Department of Justice has taken the position that training LLMs on copyrighted works is fair use. In Israel, the Supreme Court has banned the collection of real-time voter turnout data, and the Israel Bar Association has issued an expanded ethics opinion on lawyers' use of AI. Australia, meanwhile, is consulting on Privacy Act reform. Read the full edition to see what these changes could mean for your business. If you aren't already subscribed, we invite you to sign up so you never miss an issue. https://lnkd.in/d4x5ZYhD

A.I. America Israel Ltd. has signed a landmark merger agreement with the Massad Oz Group Group, combining their real estate and engineering activities. The transaction brings together America Israel’s business development capabilities with Massad Oz’s engineering and project management operations, which cover projects valued at approximately NIS 40 billion and include 250 engineers. The combined company will also bring together residential real estate, logistics and income-generating property activities, including in London, with plans for a public listing within the next few years. We are proud to have advised A.I. America Israel on the transaction, with Partner Shlomi Arbel, representing A.I America and its controlling shareholders. This is a hugely important step in building the combined business, and we look forward to following its next stage of growth. • New in Real Estate Center Magazine: our Partner and Head of the IL Tax Practice Group, Doron Mutai, breaks down a recent ruling on the "family unit presumption" in Israeli real estate tax law.   The short version: if a minor child buys a property, but their parents already own a home, that purchase doesn't count as a "single home" for tax benefit purposes, even though the property is registered to the child.   As Doron puts it, the ruling means such a purchase "does not qualify for the benefits available in the case of a 'single home.'"   In other words, this "loophole" just got a lot narrower.    Worth a look if you're structuring family real estate holdings. Great to have had Guy Lachmann represent us at Grove Ventures’ first “AI, Deployed” ecosystem event, led by Co-founder and Managing Partner Lotan Levkowitz. The event brought together leaders from Palantir Technologies, Kela Technologies, Onfire AI and Wonderful to discuss what it really takes to deploy AI at scale. Guy, Head of our Israel Hi-Tech Practice, brought the legal and contractual perspective to the conversation. A great discussion and a valuable reminder that scaling AI takes more than great technology — it takes the right team and structure behind it. AI, Deployed 2.0 is coming this November! Don’t miss it — more details coming soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
