The secret to building an intelligent enterprise is acting on ambition. We loved to see technology, data, and business leaders converge at our 2026 Americas Data & AI Summit in New York City! It was a great chance to connect and exchange thoughts on data foundations, operating models, and economics in the AI age. Here’s what stood out: -From AI ambition to impact: Partner Kayvaun Rowshankish shared seven priorities for technology leaders, while Michael Chui broke down the latest State of AI research and showed what sets AI high performers apart. - Rewiring the enterprise: Leaders across industries explored how AI is reshaping customer experiences, workflows, leadership and talent. - Rethinking the economics of AI: Leaders were challenged to think about productivity, workforce implications, and how organizations turn AI gains into longer-term growth. - Building the foundations for scale: Trusted data, semantic context, and accessible data marketplaces came up again and again as critical enablers of AI scale. - Modernizing at scale: We explored how McKinsey & Company's AI capabilities (including agentic digital twins, AI4Data, EcliptOS, AI4Insights powered by Prisma) can help accelerate transformation. Many organizations are still measuring AI adoption instead of impact and value. Tracking tokens, users and deployed copilots won’t show you whether AI is creating economic value. The AI value curve helps answer that question. Our proprietary tool examines the economics of applying AI-driven automation or augmentation to existing work, rather than the full range of enterprise value the technology can create. The value curve provides an economic lens to assess where that potential can be deployed economically across industries, occupations, and regions. In elite cycling, races are won and lost in seconds. 🚲 Our team worked alongside Team Visma l Lease a Bike to turn various data streams into a single live view, giving coaches the full picture the moment they need it. The result: faster, sharper decisions when the race is on the line. It’s AI built to back human expertise when every second counts. Technology is moving fast. The real value comes from knowing what to do with it. 💪 This Thursday, join our colleagues Michael Chui and Roger Roberts for a live discussion on one of the most critical gaps of the AI era: What should leaders be watching when technology moves faster than governance? They’ll unpack where momentum is building, the shifts shaping technology in 2026, and how to turn the next wave of innovation into business value. Egypt’s AI moment is real, and it’s happening now! 🇪🇬 We brought together business and technology leaders in Cairo to explore Egypt’s potential as a global technology and AI hub. This was the second AI & Digital Summit by McKinsey & Company, hosted this year by Senior Partner Tamim Saleh. It was a great opportunity to hear Kim Baroudy and Johannes Lorenz share findings from our State of AI research. Amongst many great speakers, we heard from our regional tech and AI leaders Tarik Alatovic, Umar Bagus, and Ali Ustun, who dove deeper into sovereign AI and the next frontier of AI productivity. Through the event, we explored how Egypt can move from experimentation to measurable impact, harness its talent base, and build the capabilities to compete in the global ecosystem. Egypt really is at an inflection point! Now it’s time to turn that opportunity into impact. 👀 Hope to see everyone in Cairo again next year! #AIbyMcKinsey #AI #GenAI

How much do you know about sovereign AI? Here’s something that may help! 👇 The term “sovereign AI” describes a nation’s or organization’s ability to develop and control its own AI capabilities. In some regions, and especially outside of the U.S., it’s becoming a strategic priority for everyone, from enterprises to governments and investors. Up to 40% of AI spending could be influenced by sovereignty requirements by 2030. This points to a clear opportunity to create local trust in the technology with openness and interoperability, in a way that supports global innovation. In this new episode of the Financial Times’ The Next Five podcast, our McKinsey colleague Ali Ustun joins Stéphane Israël (Amazon Web Services (AWS))and Catherine Di Lorenzo (A&O Shearman), to discuss what digital sovereignty could mean for the next phase of AI. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/eZzW9Mzg #AI #DigitalSovereignty #AIbyMcKinsey #Technology

Nothing better than starting the week with great highlights from McKinsey’s Asia AI Summit in Singapore! 🇸🇬 ✨ Last week, we got together with leading AI labs, hyperscalers, platforms, and enterprise users, to unpack what it really takes to turn AI investment into value. Here are the key takeaways from the event. 👇 ▪️Value capture is enterprise-wide, not a pilot parade. Real returns demand business-led change across data, talent, process, and operating model. ▪️Humans remain organizationally crucial, even as structures become flatter and more fluid. ▪️Capital and value creation are diverging. Returns are concentrating in a handful of players as model and vendor neutrality becomes a competitive advantage. ▪️This is a journey, not a destination. The industry is still growing and ROI gaps often trace back to skipped foundations. Start from business outcomes, not the technology. A huge thank you to Michael Park, Vinayak HV, and Kevin Wei Wang for co-hosting the summit, and to the wider organizing team for bringing such a brilliant day together! So many sharp conversations to take in, and even more to put into practice. 👀 #AIbyMcKinsey #AI #GenAI

I am posting a lot recently how McKinsey and QuantumBlack are looking for Tech and AI talent - we truly do! Interestingly, some people asked me "why would I join consultancy if I can go to AI start ups?". I think that question is fair and the answer is personal. If you like AI research, you might want to go to academia. If you like the adventure of building your own start-up, go for it. In any case these are the most interesting times - especially if you are a Tech & AI talent! My answer is also personal and there are many reasons I stayed in consultancy for almost 20 years by now, even though, I am a techie by education and I always liked the nerdy stuff. But for me it was the combination of deep technical work and working with people, seeing applied AI, and seeing real business impact, seeing how we move enterprises to action. Being a Mathematician by education n=1 is not sufficient. So I started asking around. And here you go, n=2, and interestingly a similar response. "You thought AI was a technology challenge? Try scaling it across an enterprise.” 7 years ago, Dr. Thomas Lehmann joined QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey as a data science consultant. Today, he helps large organizations turn AI agents into systems people can trust and use. I asked him what has changed most. Thomas: “When I started, we built isolated pilots and proofs of concept using conventional machine learning, like forecasting or optimization problems. But the ambition has shifted. Today, we typically work toward large AI transformations, which raise even harder questions: How do you scale? Is your tech architecture ready? Is the organization ready? Which foundations must be in place?” And then I wanted to know what keeps the work interesting. Thomas: “The field moves so quickly that you need to be a continuous learner to stay informed. Our clients expect us to separate the hype from noise, demystify the technology, and help them build systems that work. I am a physicist by training, so I enjoy the technical challenge. But the most rewarding moment is when a client’s workforce starts using what we built in their daily work. At QuantumBlack, I get to work at exactly that boundary between technology and organizational change.” One question Thomas is working on today: How do you build a production line for AI agents that turns promising prototypes into secure, reliable systems at scale? If that is the kind of question you want to work on, we should talk. And whenever we are not implementing AI or moving organizations, we also enjoy a decent break as a team. Here Thomas with one of our teams on a beautiful event in Amsterdam - great impact and great fun!
