🌱 We have spaces left on our upcoming Resolution Skills for Managers training course. With the increasing focus on resolving workplace issues earlier and more informally, managers are likely to play an even more important role in preventing everyday problems from escalating. But asking managers to deal with conflict informally is one thing. Giving them the confidence and skills to actually do it is another. That’s exactly what this course is designed to do. Resolution Skills for Managers is a practical, interactive day that helps managers: • spot and address conflict earlier • feel more confident having difficult conversations • understand how to approach situations where relationships are becoming strained We’re not training managers to become mediators. We’re giving them practical skills they can use in the everyday conversations that come with managing people. We’ve got two online dates coming up: 📅 10 November 2026 📅 9 December 2026 💻 Delivered live online 💷 £395 + VAT per person If developing your managers’ confidence in handling conflict is a priority, we’d love to have you join us. You can find out more and book a place here: https://lnkd.in/eBYC6nqk We can also deliver the course in person for organisations and arrange alternative dates if you have a group of managers you’d like us to train. And if you’re wondering whether the course would be right for your managers, simply reply to this email. we’d be very happy to have a chat. #resolutionatwork #training #development #conflictresolution

Check out our latest blog 👀 We've had a few questions recently regarding facilitated conversations and mediation. While the two approaches have similarities, there are important differences in how they work, the level of structure involved and when each is most appropriate. In our latest blog, we look at the difference between workplace mediation and facilitated conversations, and how choosing the right intervention at the right time can help people address difficulties and move forward constructively. You can read the blog here: https://lnkd.in/eVnb6sx8 #facilitatedconversations #mediation #resolutionatwork

Most workplace issues don’t start as formal disputes. Often, it’s a relationship that’s become strained, conversations that aren’t going well, or a situation everyone knows needs addressing but nobody quite knows how. That’s where mediation can help. At Resolution at Work, we help people have the conversations that have become difficult to have on their own, before things escalate further. If there’s a workplace situation that’s been on your mind, even if you’re not sure whether mediation is the right approach, I’m always happy to have an informal chat. No hard sell. Just a conversation. #resolutionatwork #mediation #workplaceconflict

We’re moving towards a landscape in the UK where it's likely that companies will be asked to show that they've tried to resolve issues informally before formal routes are used. ACAS are currently consulting on making changes to their code of conduct on handling disciplinary and grievance cases, and if the changes go ahead having managers that can spot and understand how to manage conflict will take centre stage. So now it's even more important that managers are equipped with the skills to understand and manage workplace conflict. That’s exactly why we created our 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 training. It’s a practical course designed to help managers: 💬 Have difficult conversations with more confidence 👀 Spot conflict before it escalates 🤝 Understand different approaches to resolving workplace issues 🧠 Develop practical conflict resolution skills they can actually use 🚦 Know when they can manage something themselves and when additional support might be needed It’s not about turning managers into mediators. It’s about giving them the confidence to step into difficult situations earlier, rather than hoping they’ll go away until they eventually land with HR as something much bigger. Our next online courses are: 📅 10 November 2026 📅 9 December 2026 💻 Live online 💷 £395 + VAT per person We can also deliver the training in person for organisations and arrange alternative dates for groups. If informal resolution is going to become an even bigger part of how we manage workplace conflict, we need to make sure our managers are equipped to do it. We’re really looking forward to this 🙌🏾
I have sat through so many events over my career, bored out of my mind listening to people tell me things I already know or selling to me from the stage, whilst dreading the excruciating networking that's going to come at the break. So in 2024, I decided to create my own event that would be the antithesis of most other HR events. We're in year 3 of the Evolving HR 'Conference' now and I would love for some of you Manchester based HR folk to join us at the Victoria Warehouse on Thursday 19th November. (although you're obviously very welcome to come from further afield as well!) We have an amazing line-up, a cool venue, some brilliant sponsors, a great group of people attending (because there always is), the food is incredible and we're having free drinks afterwards as well in the same venue. I've deliberately made it a mix of learning, listening and laughter and a space where absolutely everyone is welcome. If you'd like to join us, the link to buy a ticket is in the comments. A workplace investigation lands on your desk. 🚨 The allegation is serious. 🚨 There are conflicting versions of events. 🚨 Perhaps senior people are involved. 🚨 And you're expected to investigate it alongside everything else you're already dealing with. Sometimes an internal investigation makes perfect sense. But sometimes you need independence, additional capacity or someone completely removed from the situation. That's where Resolution at Work can help. We provide experienced, independent workplace investigators to support organisations with matters including: ✅ Grievances ✅ Bullying and harassment allegations ✅ Conduct concerns ✅ Discrimination complaints ✅ Complex interpersonal issues And because we've been working with organisations to resolve difficult workplace situations for more than 20 years, we understand that a good investigation isn't simply about conducting a few interviews and writing a report. It needs careful evidence gathering, appropriate challenge, procedural fairness and genuine impartiality. Most importantly, you don't have to manage it all yourself. If you've currently got an investigation sitting on your desk, or you know one may be coming, send us a message. Because investing in an external investigation early will save you time and money in the future. #workplaceinvestigations #humanresources #investigations #resolutionatwork

We’re asking managers to resolve more workplace issues informally. But have we actually given them the skills to do it? With Acas putting an increased focus on early and informal resolution in its proposed new Code of Practice, this feels like a really important question for employers. Because telling a manager to “have an informal conversation” sounds simple. Actually having that conversation when emotions are running high, relationships are strained and people have very different versions of events? Not quite so simple.
