  • THE NEXT BATTLE FOR AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS MAY BE WON OUTSIDE THE SHOWROOM. An interesting partnership between CHERY UK, URUNN and Sir Mo Farah demonstrates how automotive manufacturers are finding new ways to connect with customers.By combining its TIGGO Super Hybrid range with personalised running programmes, CHERY is creating a relationship between vehicle performance, personal ambition and everyday lifestyles. With 10,000 complimentary URUNN memberships available through qualifying test drives and vehicle purchases, the initiative goes beyond conventional automotive promotion. But the wider significance is particularly interesting. As competition intensifies in the UK automotive market, successful brands will increasingly distinguish themselves not simply through vehicle technology and pricing, but through the experiences and communities they build around their products. For emerging manufacturers, these partnerships offer an opportunity to strengthen brand recognition, encourage customer engagement and develop lasting relationships. The vehicle may attract the initial interest, but the experience surrounding it could ultimately influence the purchasing decision. An interesting approach from CHERY as it continues developing its presence in the UK.

  • BYD HAS PUSHED EV CHARGING TO 1,500 kW. BUT IS THE ELECTRICITY INFRASTRUCTURE READY? Five-minute charging is no longer simply an ambition. BYD's second-generation FLASH Charging technology, combined with Blade Battery 2.0, promises extraordinary charging speeds for compatible vehicles. But the real engineering challenge extends far beyond the charging station. 1. Can the grid supply the power? 2. Can battery storage manage peak demand? 3. Can cables and connectors handle megawatt-level charging? And can operators deploy these stations commercially at scale? This week's StratumEV Explains examines the technology behind BYD's FLASH Charger and what it could mean for the UK charging industry. The next breakthrough in EV charging may not be how quickly electricity reaches the vehicle, but how intelligently the entire infrastructure delivers it. #BYD #EVCharging #MegawattCharging #ChargingInfrastructure #BatteryTechnology #StratumEV

  • WHAT IF THE NEXT BREAKTHROUGH IN EV PERFORMANCE ISNT ABOUT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PERSON DRIVING IT? An interesting development from Polestar and University of Oxford, exploring what actually happens in the human brain during the driving experience.Through more than 40 individual tests, researchers are combining vehicle telemetry, brain activity, physiological responses and driver feedback to investigate the relationship between engineering performance and human emotion. For decades, automotive performance has been defined by acceleration, handling, power and precision. But electrification is creating opportunities to understand performance from an entirely different perspective. The next competitive advantage in electric mobility may come not simply from making vehicles faster or more powerful, but from understanding how their technology makes drivers feel. A fascinating intersection of neuroscience, automotive engineering and the evolving driving experience.Could understanding driver emotion become as important as measuring vehicle performance?

What happens in your brain when you drive? In the second episode of The anatomy of performance, we join researchers from the The Oxford SDG Impact Lab at the University of Oxford for two days of testing at Gotland Ring. Or as we now refer to it: the lab. Across more than 40 individual tests, we recorded vehicle telemetry and data on brain activity and physiological responses to examine how vehicle performance translates into the driver’s experience. Combined with drivers’ own accounts, the data helps us better understand the thrill of driving and explore whether it can be measured.
